EXACTLY what I was trying to post - Mike Richards is CANNON!!!

Numb on this trade though. Too early to give a reaction for me. I LOVE Mike Richards, but hate that we dealt Schenn.

That said, the post of it costing Simmonds and a 2nd to get what we hoped Brayden Schenn would turn into is a very good point.

I think I'll be happy with this trade once I figure out what I'm actually feeling about this.

But HOLY ****!!!! Philly deals two of their top three centers in a little over an hour?!? Ladies and gentlemen, the offseason is in full swing!!!

Mike Richards is not a player that's only about stats. If you're looking at the stat sheet to figure out why we should or should not have done this deal, you're looking in the wrong place. But even if you are looking at the stat sheet, surely you will have seen this for the 2010 playoffs.

7 goals, 16 assists in 23 games

And 5.75 is a great cap hit. I am mystified as to how anyone could dislike this deal from our end. Stunned. Shocked. This is the best trade this franchise has made in I don't even know how long.

UPDATE: The Kings are also interested in Stastny (e4) Could include picks and Bernier going to Colorado.

No way. What if it's a swap. Mike Richards for Stasny.

Nervous about this trade, Richards is a great player but I heard he's quite the "party boy". I don't mean drinking either, hope he doesn't influence Drew at all.

The way this organization values two way play, it would never be a swap that's for sure.

Bruins fan here. I think this is a great trade for you guys. Richards is a solid player, and will be fantastic as your second line center behind Kopitar. I think you have one of the scariest teams in the league now. It does hurt to give up a prospect with such a high ceiling, but Schenn is a few years away from being able to contribute what Richards will contribute now.

Eklund is a retard.

We don't have a lot of picks to give out after two big trades for Richards and Penner.

We also are done upgrading the centre positions.

The response on the trade boards and NHL Network is overwhelmingly positive toward LA. I can't wait for the season to start now.

Dean had one shot to get "the guy" with the salary cap being what it is and Mike Richards is one of 3 or 4 players I would consider to be "the guy".

I'm going to miss Simmonds. Giving up Schenn is fine in this case - Richards already is what anyone would hope Schenn could become. Losing Simmonds leaves a hole, although it's FAR, far easier to fill that 2-3 winger from within than it is to fill the hole of a legit #1-2 center.

Stanley Cup teams have a dominant 1-2 punch at center, solid defense and goaltending. The Kings have all of that now.

We hope so.

Congrats on the cup btw. Most of us on here are big Tim Thomas fans.

Not horrible at all!

I'm with the others...we would have been happy to see Schenn develop into Richards. Well guess what....he just did!

One guy who could potentially replace Simmonds is Scottie Upshall. A UFA and would fit perfectly on that 3rd line, Mike Richards' ex-teammate too

SJ isn't going to re-sign Nichol or Mayers. Two guys who could fill Simmer's spot admirably.

I don't know if you know this, but he's 26. Also, he's signed through 2020. He'll be 35 when the contract expires. Prime years.

I'm leaning toward positive on this trade, but I can definitely see Tadite's side too.

My other concern is whether the Kings got enough offense back. Yes, I've seen the videos from the 2010 playoffs, but he had 62 and 66 points in the last 2 seasons. Terry Murray's offensive system seems to suck the life out of anyone coming here - if those totals drop too much from there, the Kings will still need more offensive production.

I'm not sure which one of you had been talking about the importance of a 1a and 1b option at center but I always agreed with you. Today marks the start of some big things in store for us.

I'm literally getting chills right now. A great day.

I've been saying it all along. We should we sign all these guys to replace Simmer? Has EVERYONE forgotten about Holloway. He led the Narchs in playoff scoring last year and he was projected to be our third/fourth line RW
