But only if there's no lockout.

I think September 17th. I guess rookie camp is the preceding week. I guess this is vaguely related: I'm going to be in Georgetown this weekend, and I may try to go see some of the players skating at Kettler if there are a bunch of them there. Does anyone know when they typically skate?

Relatively speaking unimportant even within the hockey news with today's news in Russia, but Caps rookie camp roster being released today.

Sounds like players report on 10th, with first on-ice session on Sunday, 9/11

Some of the free agent invites not under contract (as per current reports) with Washington, Hershey or South Carolina expected to be on the roster:

Tyler Ludwig
Luke Lockhart
Thomas Frazee
Scott Wietecha
Mitch Eliot
Reid Edmonson
Garrett Ross

per the Q list released recently, expected to attend, as well:
Samuel Henley
Jimmy Oligny
Benjamin Casavant (update: Casavant is not on the roster released; likely a mistake by the person putting together the Q list)

I'll update once I see the actual roster. This is based on reports pre-release of the roster and media reports about the roster.

looks like with the exception of Ludwig (and de K who is under contract with Hershey) all of the FA invites were in attendance at the development camp in July. Also, it looks like all of the junior/pro free agent (not NCAA for obvious reasons) invites from development camp are returning except for the Q goalie, Gervais-Chouinard.

The scrimmage against the Flyers prospects is on Thursday, 9/15 at 5pm in Philly.

OT: Here's the Flyers rookie camp roster: link; obviously not all will play in the scrimmage.

Soberg will not be at rookie camp according to a team spokesman. He's trying to decide whether to play in N. America or Europe this year.

Caps have released the schedule and roster for training camp; some players will be added from the rookie camp.

All the players on the roster not under Washington contract are under contract with Hershey.

Are they doing that tournament again? I only see one scrimmage listed on the schedule. Team C's in for some rough games if they are.

Yeah, likely.

Actually...Katie seems to think not.

Because of the compact nature of the preseason there are only three days before the first game there likely won't be the usual Duchesne Cup tournament this year.

Do you guys feel D.J. King has a chance of making the team? Or will he be traded/sent to the minors?

Wings fan

He'll be a healthy scratch every night as usual, or waived to the minors.

I love your long and short posts, keep them coming. I just dont get the point of quoting long posts on a message board. No is ever going to re-read the long requoted post.

Thanks; I agree about quoting long posts...no reason (and thanks to the poster for editing as a result of your comment)
