Is Wisniewski a 5.5 million dollar defenseman?

I am seeing that right?

6 years 33 million?

Right. They still won't make the playoffs at this point but, hey, good on 'em for being aggressive.

Pittsburgh pulls their offer to Jagr.

Well poor teams have to overpay so how much do you think they overpaid? I'd say at least $1 mil per and I'd still be asking if he is a $4.5 mil player?

They call it Silly Season for a reason...

Schultz looks like a great deal every day of the week now! D-men getting silly cash! Sarge has never been minus in his whole career. Even when we sucked.

Tampa rolling with Rolo next year again has kind of flown under the radar...kind of a big risk, their backups aren't fantastic, even after today.

With this free agent class Hannan should be bringing in $5 to $6 million a year, easy.

They'll probably make another genius trade deadline move in net and go on another incredible run.

presumably he'll be playing in the A with spot duty callups, but nonetheless worth posting for a chuckle given the brads, flash, and theo signings:

I do know Shaone Morrisonn wants out and wants to be waived. I think he and Ales Kotalik will wind up in Rochester giving Buffalo just over $5-million back.

You sure that wasn't Emmmmmminger...?

Remember when Morrisonn and Jurcina had the looking of a nice shutdown pair?

Heck many around here now have Schultz-Green as the 3rd pairing when only a couple years ago they were +50 and 30 goals.

Just saw that trade. Did Burke just rob someone blind? I'm shocked.

I mean, unless Lombardi is a vegetable, this seems an absolute idiotic move for Poile. He gave away the two best players in the deal.

pretty sure that they brought hamrlik in for green. this indicates a change
in the defense plan. certainly mcphee doesnt want the team in a situation where a guy
like schultz is skating with a guy like hannan anymore.

it also clearly opens up the avenue to trade schultz. it may be that schultz stays for the pk, but the option is certainly there to move him

Part of the problem with playing guys above their level is moderate success leads to a future overpayment in salary. And can hamstring fixing the hole that always existed.

They must be ready to play Blum and/or Ellis full time. Then just use this free up money for Weber (and maybe a Suter extension?)

Also I'm guessing its a sign that they aren't optimistic about Lombardi's health. Still, puzzling.

Didn't the Preds have $20M+ in cap room before the deal?

And there's no point in freeing up money for Suter-Weber. The Caps are going to end up with the pair.
