Your shtick has been the same since the season ended: everything GMGM does is ****. Everything other GMs do is gold and should be emulated.

Change for the sake of change is moronic. Would you have seriously been happy if Ovechkin and Backstrom were traded for a similar package just for the sake of a 'culture change'?
Why compare apples to oranges?? Do you know the attitude in our locker room? Don't judge if you have no clue. True Flyer fans knew of the issues for some time and alot are happy about the move. The 15 yr. old on here you chat with know very little. the Flyers organization is not afraid to act, period. Be it good or bad. They act, we are conservative. Just 2 different styles. And yes, we we could've have gotten the total package that they got in return for Green and Semin, in a heartbeat.

No, just loads LA down the center.

Again, how many have we won with the conservative approach?? Do they have one? do we?

To the people somehow trying to turn this against GMGM, this isn't trading Semin. This isn't even trading Green.

Contract wise, what Holmgren did was trading Backstrom.
In terms of team personality wise, he traded Ovechkin and Semin (signed to an 11-year contract).

Personality wise? How do you know how other players felt about Carter and Richards? So how do you compare the 2 likings? Quite simply, you can't, so why try? They made a move, some love it, some don't. I guess we will see how we do against this new team and then we can comment.

RE: LA Kings centers

heres my take:

the Kings now have Kopitar - Richards - Stoll - Handzus - Richardson - Trevor Lewis

Zues was their checking center, but to me he is #4 on the depth chart and makes waaaaay to much money.... which means he is out the door

I'm talking about being the core of the team. Richards was the heart and soul of the team (and the captain), just like Ovechkin is for us. Carter was his best friend and counterpart, just like Semin is to Ovechkin.

If you really want to change the culture, you start with the captain. This was their version of trading Ovechkin.

Smart for TB to lock up Brewer. He was a stud for them.

Still can't wait to see how Stamkos contract falls out.

Both of TSN (Dreger) and Sportsnet (Kypreos) talking heads are reporting strong indications that it's going to be the Winnipeg Jets moniker after all.

Dreger updating to indicate that the secret is out and that it's more than just indications now.

Of note, Kypreos had this last night, it appears. He's been a big scoop guy over the last 18 months or so.

Does that mean that the Regehr trade is going to happen? It seems that he's most likely head to Buffalo though.

Curious as to what that does about the availability of Tanguay. I imagine that Calgary will still do whatever they can to bring him back to play with Iginla.

The four-division realignment proposal from Bettman is going to be trippy, but tentatively and without seeing the breakdown yet, I think I really like it.

You value picks too high IMO.....adding to that, its about winning hockey games. They need to start doing more of that in Columbus. This trade helps with that IMO

Non-uniform division sizes is the worst. Just look at baseball.

If he's planning a 2 team expansion with this re-alignment, then it will be terrible beyond belief. A 2 team contraction, I could get behind.

A league who's floor is near where the cap was 6 years ago through a massive recession is not going to contract.

So you can read the writing on expansion.

IMHO I think that Pitt and Phi will be pulled into the SE division along with Clb and REALLY piss off a lot of Pens/flyers fans.

Or just look at the NHL for many years, five in three divisions, six in the Patrick, in the Original 21.

The 30-team, four-division league is designed to tide the league over until the expansion to 32 teams, in my opinion. One for Canada, and probably one for Kansas City, Vegas, Houston or Atlanta.

Divisional Semifinals, Divisional Finals, Conference Finals, Stanley Cup Finals. Real rivalries form that way, at least between the clubs that are any good on a consistent basis.

thats not the point. the caps have not won whether conservative or aggresive and they've been both and most stops in between.

the flyers are and have been this way for a long time and it has not gotten them a championship. they have messed up a good thing several times by going off half cocked.

that is a very hard team to play for.

Yeah, only they have Claude Giroux and James Van Riemsdyke behind their "Ovechkin". Who have we got behind ours, Jason Chimera and Eric Fehr?

Liles - > Leafs

TSNBobMcKenzie 23:23:57, 24 июня 2011 г.

As per @DarrenDreger, Leafs acquire J M Liles from COL for 2nd rd pick

PS: I think we can donate some serious money for *************** if he's right.

Liles to the Leafs for a second?

Am I crazy for thinking his value would have been a smidge higher than that?

Yeah I like JML. I know some don't. He went through a tough spell last year playing hurt. I think that's a steal and good value for a versatile PMD lefty who can play either side.
