nucks shopping Cory Schneider

I have it from a good source of mine that the canucks are shopping schneider, hoping to trade him at the draft for a top ten pick, (8-12 range).

I put it as speculation because even I know that posting a rumor without a link is up for rage from some fans, especially if it doesn't happen, and I just thought I'd toss out what I'd heard, however this is coming from a pretty good source and friend of mine. So if Mods have any issues I'll gladly tell them but no one else as I don't want to piss him off

Colorado's 11th overall, but I'd rather see him packaged for a highend scoring winger!

so they want to trade him for a pick in the top 10? lets assume that is true when did 12 qualify as top 10?

When its relatively close considering it's on a scale of 30. Difficult concept, and there definitely couldn't be anything else added to make up for this huge gap.

I doubt that Gillis would trade Schneider for a pick/prospect. The Canucks need a solid 2nd/3rd liner now, not in 3 years.

No, for the billionth time we don't need a draft pick for a goalie we have developed for years, and is finally paying off with a solid performance behind Luongo, and is only making 900K for next season.

Twitter posts from a 'friend' shouldn't be a reliable source!

Scheider will never get a fair shake in Vancouver

Luongo will be the starter in Vancouver for the next 8 years

Nucks will be addressing a few things and to get some more prospects in the system or maybe a blue chip d prospect--Schneider could be in play

If he does get traded, it'll have to be overpayment;

Quote:
Gillis suggested he'll need to be floored, and then have his socks blown clear off, by an offer to consider trading him.

"I don't want to just trade him," Gillis said after the press conference during which he was visibly put-off by a suggestion it may not be fair to keep Schneider, 25, as a backup for the next year or three.

"I really like Cory Schneider - I like having him on our team and I would be more than happy to have Cory Schneider here for the next four or five years.

"If something comes our way that is going to help us improve, of course we're going to look at it. If it doesn't Cory Schneider is going to be on this team next year."

Schneider is gonzo
Vancouver can sign a league minimum guy to back up Luongo

Cory isnt going to want to be the back up for the next 11 years
He was as good as gone the moment Lou signed that extension
Just a matter of when.

Not getting a Top 10 pick for Schneider, sorry. The best comparable as a guy who is allegedly "too good to be a backup and won't get a fair shot" is Halak, who actually got Lars Eller, picked at # 13 three years before the trade. Halak had a good season as a quasi-starter then an insane playoff run on his resume, Schneider has played a grand total of 35 NHL games.

It would be premature and a mistake to deal their best goalie.

imo.

Posts like this piss me off. Just cause someone wants a player from your team doesn't mean "it would have to be overpayment" just cause it's your team.

It only "requires overpayment" if there is NO NEED for your team to trade said player (ex. Mtl won't move Subban as he is their only young, potential number 1 D).

Vancouver could greatly benefit from moving their backup as he will never get a shot at being number 1 behind Lou and as such it absolutely would NOT require overpayment.

Greatly benefit IF the return IS overpayment, Loungo's contract has a out clause on both sides after a certain amount of time fyi.

So its not like Luongo is #1 here forever, as his current contract suggests.

I think that the canucks will look at what they can get for him to address the needs that came out during the cup final.

The nucks are not going to trade Luongo--they have tied their stage coach to that horse

Schnieder when given the chance has shown that he may have what it take to carry a team and there are a few teams that maybe willing to give the nucks what they want for him I think a few team might be willing to over pay for him

Who will Roberto Luongo back up in two years if they trade Schneider?

Halak definitely had a higher market value when he was traded and the Blues acquired him for a 1st(13 ov) and a 3rd(87 ov).

I understand what you're saying as Schneider is still a bit of an "x" factor since he's not a full-time starter. That said, he has shown somme good ability, has had time to mature in both the minors and as a back-up to Luongo, and is only 25. I think *some* team would consider moving a relatively high pick for him. I think Colorado would move the 11th pick in an instant.

Vancouver would probably love to use this picl to draft a defenseman oe even a forward who's got no business still being available. Screw vancouver, but this deal would benifit them greatly in the long run

Dealing Schneider at this point would be a drastic mistake. They need to keep this guy around AT LEAST 1 more year. Their best chance to win the Cup is with him in the fold.
