Also, I'm going to be a jerk and post something someone else posted when I said I wanted Markov back for 3 years.

Its either 2 years or 5 at this point. With reality leaning very heavily towards 2.
I'm happy we got Markovfor 3 years at that price. If his knee goes out, it doesn't effect us at all as his cap hit comes off if he goes on ltr anyways. Mean time, we get one of the premier defensman in the league for a major home town discount. What's the problem? We have Markov back baby! And room to sign a top 6 AND Wiz if PG chooses to.
From last thread, not splitting hairs, 1 year deal until proved not injured! I still remember him having the Philly FLU, when he chose the Olympics over the Habs. That's all... Wiz played with a broken face!!!
I was listening to Pierre Gauthier's press conference on Habs Inside Out and when asked about the Markov contract he said "We hope to get something done in the next few hour.... days"
He never reveals his hand, so when he let the word "hours" slip it was pretty obvious that they were at the final stages or even at the league acceptance stage.

At this price point (excellent) we can't afford to NOT sign a back-up plan, though.
Think: Ehrhoff, Pitkaken, Wisniwski, Bieksa, even Kaberle. I want going in to next season with a rock solid Top 4 D core of: Markov, Subban, Gorges + one of those guys.
