Good term and I'm happy with three years. Now let's hope he stays healthy.

So what's the cap situation for Montreal now? And with how many players left to sign? Any idea on what Gorges will get?

Great news.

Major signings in place before the draft and July 1st. Good job Gauthier.

Would be nice to get Gorges locked up, but I imagine he will cost betwen 2.5-3million, so you can estimate that cap hit.

Time to either lock up Wisniewski, or hopefully target Brooks Laich.

I only wonder, if we can't get Laich...our top 6 will be looking thin.

Not only that, but Timmonen is a shadow of what he was even 2 years ago. Right now Markov & Subban are both light years a head of him, an argument could even be made that Hamrlik is better than Timmonen at the moment. His fall from grace has not been kind.

#Habs : Don Meehan vient de me confirmer que Markov empochera 5,75 M pour les 3 prochaines années. On parle donc de 17,25 M au total.

So now that Marky is back at a 5.75 cap hit, this should clear things up for Wiz, shouldn't it?

Wiz should get no more than 4.5 million, I wonder if he would sign for 4.5 million here in MTL?

They have 7 m to spend and have Voracek and Simmons to sign. Not much room unless they make another trade.

looking at PG's track record here Gorges should get about was he was making for 2-3 years with no proof he can contribute, I know I seem hard-a$$. Not faulting the guys, but sometimes even if the mind is willing, the body can't & that thought process doesn't win Stanley Cups.

Hell why not sign up Hamrlik while were at it!

Markov is a great D man and nobody will debate that. I would say top 5 in the NHL, however because of his injury issues I am kind of suprised that the Habs would go with a 3 year term. I hope he has 3 healthy years and is able to play at the same elite level that we are used to seeing from him.

We could've gotten a discount. No we should've... but hey if Marky can play 2 seasons out of those 3, it's good value.

14 801 691 left with 10 forwards, 5 defenceman and 1 goalie signed.

so 14 801 691 left for 6 players.

Does anybody forget that the Wiz had 3 knee surgery's. No one is bringing that fact up anymore. Injuries like this can be recovered from.

We did get a discount...a 100% healthy Markov is worth 7-8 mil on the UFA market...6.5-6.75 WITH a home town discount. If he's healthy he could be producing 1.5-2 mil above his cap hit.

He could've had more than that on the UFA market.

The cap has gone up how much since he signed his deal in 2007? About 10 million? His level of play increased as well, when he wasn't hurt. When you take his injuries into account, I think it's fair. He took a paycut, really.

He would have got over 6M on the open market, IMO.

I wonder if Mulder is looking for a protege? I think we should look at bringing Recchi in, his diagnosis abilities are unbelievable.
