Talbot moving on

Read an article that was an interview with Ray Shero and he reported that Talbot had turned down a 3 year offer and will test free agency.

If he wants to try the market, I'd like to see the Habs try to sign him for one or two years. He'd be perfect for our bottom-6.
(Plus, he is Quebecois, so all the French Canadiens Habs Fans pro-quebecois players will go : WUT WUT WUT BEST DEAL OF THE DECADE)

I think shero offered him a deal at either the same pay rate or less so im not surprised he turned it down. Definitely will be a great character guy and 4th liner for whoever gets him.

Best of luck to Max. Would love to see him in Columbus, although I realize how much that's not going to happen.

I think the Islanders would take him even if he is a bit gutless.

His best friend plays here so that's something. But on the other hand it would be a 4th line center role so I'm pretty sure he can do better than that on a better team.

A 4th liner turning down a 3 year contract? Cause there arent only a million of those on the market..

Please don't come to Montréal. It wouldn't be the worst, but he's far from my first wish for the bottom 6.

I know he is good friends with a few guys on the Isles, would be a good replacement for Konopka.

Would love him in Toronto. I'm sure he would like to join his old pal Armstrong.

If hes gutless then he would fit in well with the islanders

Talbot was being overpaid at 1 million imo so Shero probably offered him the exact same salary but he knows someone will pay him like 1.5 on the market.

Talbot is in for a rude awakening when he leaves town. He'll go from a local hero and locker room favorite to just another 4th line/PKer who nobody gives a damn about in a heartbeat. He's only going to leave because he wants a significant raise, and quite honestly, he doesn't deserve one. He's a good grinder and PK guy, but he's just about invisible for 70 games of the year.

I will miss Talbot. He's been one of my favorite guys on the team for years, but he's seriously in for a rude awakening after this summer. He's going to realize the grass really wasn't that green on the other side of the fence, and that he's left a spot on a team where he's a local icon and good friend to many guys in the room for a bit more cash.

Is a guy that puts up over 20 points in the regular season and goes .5 PPG in the playoffs really overpaid at 1 million?

His playoff experience and heart adds a lot to his salary. I would love to have him back here but as of right now we have too many centers.

Wings could use a 4th line center so Helmer can anchor the 3rd. After the past couple of years of Talbot kicking the Wing's ***** in the finals I could see it happening. Would definitely give the guy a spark.

I'd take him in Buffalo for sure. Him, Gerbe and Kaleta would make a great group of rats, with Goose and McCormick adding some size to the bottom six.

Ray Shero offered a 3 year deal at $800,000 per year, he wants a 4 year deal worth $1.05 million, there is still time to negotiate and the communication lines are still open between Talbot's camp and Ray Shero so I'm not going to jump to conclusions yet. Come back Max!

That info is from TIOPS sources and has not been confirmed.
