As of now I'd figure on one of these 4--1. McNeill 2. Biggs 3. Miller 4. Schiefele.
As far as trading down to get a 2nd rounder--it's not a big deal--anyone watching the Blueshirts United video can hear for themselves Gordie Clark saying that there aren't any Thomas's or Stepan's to be had. I see no good reason for it. I'm fine with just having the 4 picks. We've already picked up Erixon. We just signed another guy yesterday. We've got plenty of prospect depth.
Thank you for mentioning Bartschi, Goose, I forgot about him.
He'd actually be #1 on my list over McNeill, Scheifele, and Miller. He's been compared to Niederitter -- please and thank you.
I'd be very happy to see him at #15, but I'd be surprised.
The only things he has in common with Nino is nationality and that he plays for the Winterhawks. Nino plays a power game, and Bartschi is much craftier and is a deft playmaker on the wing.
You want high risk, high reward...how about Marek Tvydon (sp?) the big guy from Vancouver who scored 11 points in his first 12 games and then was badly hurt and missed the rest of the year. Maybe not in first but with an acquired second?
ugh pass...we have enough of those. We need dynamic passers/finishers
If you can get a player like Dubinsky, a 60 point all around and physical forward, at 15 you do that every day.
The only players who I think we have a shot at drafting and could potentially be more than that offensively are Armia, Scheifele, and maaaaaaybe Grimaldi (I have serious questions about Bartschi in this regard but would trust the staff if he's the guy).

Mostly this, although there's an even bigger D, name slips my mind this very second.... would be ok in lieu of Siemens
Oleksiak is efinately bigger. Not so sure he plays bigger though. Still an intriguing prospect. Anytime a guy that size can skate you got something. The guy is a monster.
Siemens though in every report is an excellent skater, and hates to lose physical battles. Especially in front of his net. <--I love when I hear that about a defenseman. They say he takes it personal when someone bumps his goalie. One guide ranked him the number 1 player out of the WHL. He also has offense to his game. Big shot, likes to join the rush at times. For the many tools he brings, I think he is a very intriguing prospect. A hybrid...Compared to Bieksa.
Redline threw the knock on him that he likes to fight but he doesn't win them all. I don't mind that...I like that he's a gamer.
But of course, this team is stacked on the blueline already so I don't think he is the guy. Just saying I wouldn't be the least bit dissapointed if he was.
I personally will be happy with any player who is high-risk, high-reward. I don't want to go safe to make sure that we "at least get an NHL player out of the draft." I don't care if we get another Dale Weise. Swing for the fences. We have plenty of second and third liners. We need scorers.
I am sure Gordie knows better than I do who is the best prospect, I just hope that the team philosophy going into the draft is to go for a homerun who might be a hit or a miss instead of going for a nice (baseball) single.
i have to agree.
Although i love "gritty two way players who will likely find a role in the NHL at some point", as some mocks have us taking, we NEED top end skill, and players that are the "full package" arent around at the 10-20 spot. If it means they are a bit lacking elsewhere, we need to take the chance.

NO! EVERy FIRST ROUND PICK MUST BE A PPG 1ST LINE SNIPER
We have enough Dubinskys and Keslers? Dubi who led the team in points and Kesler who popped 40 goals?
I'll take a top 6, two way, gritty forward at the 15 slot in the first round of a weak draft, please and thank you.
I love Dubs, but Dubi leading this team in points was just sad. We need a player who has the skill to put the puck in the net on a near-nightly basis. We only have one of those (gabby) and that isnt enough in todays NHL.
Just clicked on "View Poll Results" and one person is already very happy with our selection while another is already furious at Gordie. Talk about an optimist vs. a pessimist!
