I can't see why Ottawa would be interested, but hey...

Gaborik, 1st round pick #15, Michael Del Zotto

for

Erik Karlsson, 1st round pick #21

I think Ottawa knows better than rush a rebuild for an overrated player, everyone has learned from Toronto after the Kessel disaster, Especially rebuilding teams.

We can't afford to do that. Nothing makes sense between these two teams as much as Gaborik would look good on Spezza's wing.

I think you mean :

Gaborik, 1st round pick #15, Michael Del Zotto

for

Erik Karlsson, 1st round pick #21, Brad Richards

Not only is this terribad for Ottawa, but we take a jillion dollars of your cap space AND trade you a 20-year old all-star PMD (one of the better ones in the game) AND allow you to sign Richards. Where is the lube going to Ottawa?

We can sign Richards regardless of whether or not you "allow" us to or not.

I'd prefer to watch 2G1C then see this deal take place.

Jared Cowan would be a good start for Gaborik.

If it is true ..... Condra + Butler to New York ???

As I posted previously I don't think Bryan Murray wants to unload young players for an injury prone player. IMO

If there is any truth to this, I would think the Rangers would want a skill infusion coming back. Spezza would be great, but the Rangers would have to add a fair amount.

Both are terrible trading partners. We don't want Spezza and they don't want Gaborik.

That is a horrid trade for the Senators.

Zuccarello on the 1st line?

The value is probably there but it's so not worth it from a Rangers POV. Spezza dishing off passes to Zuccarello and Wolski? That would instantly become our 3rd line.

The teams make poor trading partners. Both teams have strong, young defensemen in the system and need offense. The only piece we'd be interested in is Spezza and if we make a trade for him, it will be to play with Gaborik, not a swap.

The Rangers have said they want Richards, in order to do this they must dump Gaborik and his salary. If this happens I think Ranger fans will be disappointed with what they get in return. No one is going to pay a high 1st round pick plus young prospects for an injury prone winger

I can't see Ottawa trading for Gaborik unless the Rags are willing to sell low, which they're probably not.

He has premier offensive talent, but the fact that he's extremely injury prone makes trading high valued pieces for him an extremely risky venture.

Like other folks have said, the Sens and Rags don't make good trading partners.

The rangers certainly do not need to move Gaborik to acquire Richards and a main motivation for pursuing Richards is to pair him with Gabby.

In case you missed any of the other 3 million threads about the Rangers cap situation, I'll sum it up for you here. We can afford Richards without trading Gaborik.

Lol, foolish. We have 21 million in cap space, without any buyouts, ltir or trades.

Dude, don't talk about the Rangers cap situation when you clearly know nothing about it. The cap just went up 4.9 mil. If necessary, we can buyout Wolski and save 3.3 mil. We have plenty of cap space for Richards.
