Big Name Toronto Trades

Just for fun, of all the guys that various bloggers and sources have thrown out, who do we want the most?

Put why in text !

The question being who I would want the most on the Leafs - Stamkos. He loves the Leafs, he's ridiculously young and a near-generational talent.

I didn't see sidney crosby on the list, so I didn't vote.

He should be every single person on this site's answer to that question.

Pointless.

None, Brad Richards will be signed instead of wasting assets.

How's his head coming along? I haven't heard anything lately, but you've gotta be worried about a guy who missed half the season and was still nowhere close to coming back by the second round of the playoffs.

If he's back to normal, then he's the obvious answer. But with the kind of risks associated with concussions of that severity...idunno...Stamkos starts looking better and better.

Trading for any of those guys on that list is 'wasting assets'?

Are you serious?

Crosby is the best player in this generation, hands down, no doubt about it.

Any player can suffer a concussion, you could trade for any player in this league and the risk is still the same.

As good as Stamkos or any other player is, they will never be Sid Crosby. This is all hypothetical but oh boy haha.

You certainly did not understand what I meant. Empty the prospect pool or keep it the same while adding a 1st line center, what would you prefer?

i dunno, i dont think Crosby is hands down the best player in this generation... what about Datsyuk, Ovechkin, Stamkos, is he even better than his teammate Malkin in the playoffs?

he is a point machine and a greatly skilled center but in the playoffs if u had to choose one player does every GM pick Crosby first? Id take Datsyuk or Ovie i think.

I'd want Stamkos but that is not happening as TSN is reporting he is nearing a new deal with TB.

Report: Stamkos says he's 'close' to deal with Lightning

This is all hypothetical of course but I don't see ANYONE in our prospect pool being as good as anyone listed in this poll. And what guarantee is there that B. Richards will even want to sign here?

Now don't get me wrong, I don't think any of those guys will be traded but I'm also of the belief we have a slim chance of signing Brad. That's just me though.

After yesterday's events we have as good of a shot as anyone else signing Brad Richards.

Something along the lines of:
Mcarthur+ 30th overall+ kadri for parise and pick up b richards via UFA. I dunno if richards (or anyone) could pass up the opportunity of playing with parise and kessel on ur wings

You are so right. I'd trade anybody and everybody to get a hometown kid like Stamkos...He is the real deal and would be so freakin awesome in a Leaf uni. The kid would love to play for Toronto. Its his favorite team. I don't see a single prospect or current player who is even in the same stratosphere as Steven Stamkos and that includes Phil Kessel. I really don't think he is available but Vinny might be.

I am also of the belief that Brad Richards has no intention of joining the Leafs. I think Philly will be the front-runner now that they have dealt the dynamic duo. They look poised to be a good team of the future with the Holmgren deals and the signing of a legit number one goalie long term. They probably have to clear a bit more cap space to land Brad R. but judging by the bold moves of the Flyers thus far, this is going to be easily done.

I would think pittsburgh should be willing to part with Malkin,

he had a down year, and they are always looking for wingers to play with crosby, moving Malkin gives them the financial freedom to go out and find that top winger. As well Jordan Staal showed he is capable of being a 2nd line centre,

Malkin does scare me a bit with his injuries but i would deal schenn and Kadri for him.
