I think we absolutely NEED to draft a D-man. Is anyone else going to be pissed if we take a forward? JVR, Giroux, Voracek, Schenn, Simmonds all 23 or younger...do we really need another forward? I desperately want a top pairing prospect in the wings to help replace Pronger/Kimmo when needed.

All I want is for us to draft a Swedish player who's last name begins with an L. If we do that, I'll be thrilled.

This. Larrson, Hamilton, or Murphy.

This is the correct answer.

Landeskog or Larsson.

If we have to stay at 8, make it count with a defenseman.

I also agree. But it seems that they are set on Landeskog. I wouldn't be sad, but I think Larsson is going to be a monster defender.

I'd prefer Larsson, makes more sense given the age of our forwards now and the age of our best defenders.

Honestly, I think the move would be only if Larsson is still available at 3...

Partially to block NJ.
Partially to get a stud d-man.

Are you guys bashing Eklund, or am I missing something? Because he totally called the Richards deal. I believe this guy when it comes to the Flyers.

Versteeg off the table now might just mean the Flyers are waiting to see who's still available when pick 3 comes around.

In case moving up isn't in the cards, the hilarious Down Goes Brown has a very funny take on the draft, to help relieve all our collective stress and angst.

http://sports.nationalpost.com/2011/...re-starts-now/

"John Gibson First-round goalies are notoriously unpredictable, ranging from wildly overpaid superstars to borderline AHL washouts. So either way, good luck to Gibson in his future endeavours with the Philadelphia Flyers."

There are many other gems, including:

"Jonathan Huberdeau He raised some eyebrows during the interview portion of the combine when, on the advice of his agents, he spent his entire interview with New York Islanders management nervously denying that he had ever played hockey before."

Exactly.

This is probably just doubletalk and posturing.

When that third overall pick comes around, if Larsson/Landeskog are still available, I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see the move get made anyway.

Like others have said I dont see how the 8th + Versteeg = the 3rd, but I would be more than thrilled. On the brightside, didn't we get the #4 (Pitkanen) for Fedatenko???

Well... one of them HAS to be there.

Sounds like it's Lando or we'll stay at #8.

I on the other hand would go ahead and do it before someone's mind changes or someone undercuts us and swoops in with a deal. But that's with the notion I would be thrilled with one of the Swedish/L-Last-Named players. And if Nugent-Hopkins were to fall to 3?... well then hot dog.

I imagine that Florida is going to wait until their turn b/c if RNH falls I don't think that pick would be available.

True, but I don't envision RNH going past 2. Say Edmonton shocks the world and goes Larrson 1, Colorado wouldn't pass on RNH. Lando would still be there at 3

For Florida's sake you are right that they'll wait just in case of such a scenario of RNH falling to 3, but I am just impatiant lol

Not a shot at Eklund, just the way trades and news has gone recently, there is no deal with Bryzgalov, means they have a deal. We want to keep our core together means we planned on shipping out Richards and Carter. If Versteeg is off the table, I expect it means he will likely be traded...

Honestly I'm not that excited about Landeskog, but I think he's a lock to Colorado at 2. They already have Duchene Stastny and O'Reilly down the middle and with the Chris Stewart trade they have holes to fill on the wings.

oh if it were up to me I would be all over Larsson and exhaust all possibilities to get him.

We are, however, reported to really have the hots for Gabe and he is the guy we are targeting at 3. I wouldn't mind Gabe, but I would prefer Larsson.

Come on Homer. Landeskog is a Flyer through and through. Make it happen!!! Larsson would be my distant 2nd choice.
