They would have taken better players than the Flames did.

Granlund is a laughable pick that high.

Yeah, I would think Nieto and someone else. No matter what they got a MUCH better player in Erixon who should challenge for a spot.

I don't see anyone as good as Erixon on that list, thats for damn certain.

Erixon trade was a "fleece", simple as that.

(I use quotes because it was less Sather magic, more Erixon giving the Flames a hard time...but still. )

Erixon is the better option no doubt. This years draft was pretty weak

I have to agree -- it's as if they drafted based on YouTube videos and got first names mixed up.

erixon made this draft. period. the 2 2nd rounders mean nothing.

looking at that list, no one on that list is a valuable as erixon is. hes nhl ready now. not one guy on that list is. the names on this list are all projects. some with decent upside- like karlsson and niki kucherov, but i would not take any of them over erixon.

having said that, i also think that roman horak is better than most on this list as well.

How does Erixon compare to the kid the Devils drafted at #4 ?

He looked better than Larsson at the WJC, imo, and played a bigger role on Skelleftea last year (as he should have, considering he is two draft years ahead of/a year and 2 months older than Larsson), but Larsson definitely has more upside.

Assuming both are in the NHL next year, I'd say Erixon is the better player. Long term, Larsson has the edge though.

Actually, Gordie Clarke said that the Rangers would have taken Steven Fogarty with one of their 2nd round picks. They weren't sure if he was underrated or other teams were high on him, thereby determining which second round pick they would use. Don't forget they used a 2nd on Stepan, when other teams didn't have him rated as high.

Video is on the Rangers site.
