It's incarcerated bob. He most likely just saw that he is a center, figured the Rangers need a center, put the two together and made this up for attention.

I firmly believe that Bob was incarcerated for making false statements on a tax return. He's a compulsive liar, and didn't want to go back to jail, so now he makes false statements on twitter instead of tax returns.

Only in one circumstance: IF we are working on a larger deal to move either AA or Step for a first line talent, then it might be useful to have Laich to bring in to take the traded player's spot.

(Not that I'm necessarily advocating for moving either player.)

No, thanks. This guy stands to get overpaid. Solid player, but not what we need. ONLY Richards.

Under 3.4 and I wouldn't mind the contract if we miss out on Richards. He's not a first line guy but I like the way he plays and could have chemistry with Dubi/Cally.

I really like Laich (lol), but as almost everyone mentioned he's a redundant piece. If we werent thinking about resigning Feds, and didnt have some young guys who could use some time at the forward position in the NHL, i'd go for him.

But he will be overpaid and we have plenty of what he brings already. This is the type of guy you would like to pick up for a playoff run if you needed the depth due to the injury bug, not via Free Agency. Sorry, pass.

Don't want him. Then again, I don't really trust Bob, so I'm not sure about the validity of this rumor.

It's incarcerated bob.

The guy knows nothing. We aren't going after Brooks Liach and would honestly be shocked if we did.

I really like Brooks Laich, but he's a compliment, not a #1. If we signed him, we'd likely not be signing Richards and with Laich as our #1 we'll be the same mediocre team we've been for far too long. It drives me crazy.

Like Mr.Miyagi says in the Karate Kid: "Left side of street, ok. Right side of street, ok. Middle of street, BOOM! squash like grape!". Sign Richards and make a push, ok. Sign noone, fall back, and rebuld, ok. Middle of the pack, BOOM! squash like grape!

I don't understand why. I know it means Anisimov or Stepan as 1c. That being said, I guess if we can't sign Richards, Laich is a better option for 3c than Christensen.

Laich is not a center. He is a LW. He CAN play center.

I don't think anyone should look at Laich as move we'd make if Richards fall through. IMO this should be looked at a move in addition to Richards, or a plan B, 1C.

Laich is a solid player and fits our system and style of play very well.
did'nt we just see this model work with the Bruins?

Laich is huge upgrade over an aging Fedetenko and broken down Prospal, the latter who should not be on our squad next year.

the jury is still out on whether Boyle can replicate his former season.

I wouldn't pay more than 3-3.5m for this guy.

You make a good point but Laich had some pretty good seasons with a great offensive team and I think he'll be signed for more than he's worth to us. That's a problem.

Its all about how much he gets. At 3-3.5 I think he can be a valuable addition. Anything above that and I pass. But it doesnt mean they shouldn't "look" at him. He would be a solid 2nd/1st line LW who would fit the mold of the Rangers.

agreed. if the $ is right, i'm ok with it, but i'd be just as ticked off
as anyone if we overpay for this guy.

Some are saying just get Richards and that's it. I don't agree with that, and I hope Sather makes some moves to bring in additional offense.

Yeah I'd take him for under four. Only with Richards though. Like I said, go for it or don't go at all. None of this middle stuff.

If they sign Laich I will kick puppies.

Good player but not what the Rangers need or should be targeting for this off-season

We dont need him, hes a 3rd max 2nd liner we have a number of these guys and have guys like Krieder that will be that also. Why waste money a guy like that.

Guys worth going after for our team have to add skilled secondary scoring and have PP ability imo.

1. Flieschman
2. Handzus
3.Sturm
4. Id like another shot with Frolov at a little less than 3
5.Miettinen
6.Vrbata
7.Dvorak
8.Joel Ward
9.Rupp
10. Preissing
11. Sopel

IDK if all these guys are UFA but those are guys i think are worth a look, maybe 2 of any of them.

Not a legitimate source.

We may well make a push for Laich, but a rumor from this clown isn't getting its own thread.
