I like it from a Buffalo POV. I would be hoping Adam and a 3rd this year gets it done.

If so, then we would then need to move a Dman in anther trade to fill a Center roll perhaps?

Not the smartest move the Flames could make, even if it does bring back the highly coveted first round pick and prospect. With the remaining defensive core they would have little chance of making the playoffs next year.

If they move Regehr they're basically indicating the direction the club is going; the fact they've even approached tells me they've already made their decision.

Robyn Regehr unlikely to decide tonight on whether to waive no move clause to clear trade to Buffalo 21 minutes ago

My thoughts were along the same lines but involved Tanguay too. If Tanguay doesn't re-sign they may as well blow it up. A repeat of 09-10 must be avoided. No Jamie Lundmark top line winger.

I'd take that deal. I like Luke Adam, but he's being overrated like crazy in these threads. He's projected to be a winger in the NHL, we are solid on the wings so "lack of center" depth is still there regardless.

Dreger said on TSN that if Regher does agree to waive his NMC to Buffalo, than that will make room for Calgary to trade for Ryan Smyth (who he says wouldn't mind playing in Calgary)

If Feaster is virtually going to trade Regehr for Smyth, he'd better not come back to Calgary any time soon.

Buffalo's D would be stacked if they can pull this off.

agreed, but he would be a great compliment to Tyler Myers despite a few hiccups in his game.

If I'm buffalo I'd rather trade this years first round pick (16th overall) than Luke Adam. He was AHL rookie of the year and Ruff has stated he wants him at center which makes me thing he's a highly valued commodity and he's only one or two years away from taking a permanent spot in the lineup IMO.

Yes...Regehr is still a very good dman and he took a discount with the Flames so yeah the price is pretty good.

Come to Pittsburgh for cheap so we can completely stack our defense

In all seriousness, why would the Flames try to move him??

They're a team 2 years removed from the playoffs who's best players are getting older, it's not exactly a shock they might be trying for a retool to shake things up or even going for that rebuild.

Also there's always the chance that the deal was just too good or made too much sense to say no to.

Seemingly in order to make room for Ryan Smyth, which only begs the question... why do the Flames want Ryan Smyth?

That's absolute speculation on Dreger's part, It makes no sense whatsoever cap wise either as we would have to replace Regehr by bringing in another defencemen.

It is not done but CGY is working to acquire Ryan Smyth. Smyth has final say with his NTC but it may be as close as he gets to EDM. #tsn
