Guessing that it's going to be Evgeny Namestnikov or Alexander Khokhlachev if we keep the pick. Especially if Semin, Green, and/or others are traded. Not that Green has anything to do with it.

1) Put an APB out on the scout who liked Carlson, Kuzy, and Mojo.

2) Ask him who we ought to pick.

3) Make pick.

4) ?????

5) Win Cup

I wonder if this is the year McPhee trades up into the top 5. He offered all 3 1st rounders in 2002 to Columbus so he could take Rick Nash. CBus said no. It's not his style to do, well, much of anything but you'd think after so many years he'd be involved in a trade like that even if by accident.

Not winning the cup every year is unacceptable! You guys accept failure!

....

GMGM needs to trade for futures!

It's time for another Swedish center, right?

I thought this was going to be about Boogard at first.

EDIT: Did Bettman just use the family of a dead guy to avoid getting booed?

They finally figured out that the only way to keep people from booing Bettman is to stick him up on stage with people that you can't really boo without looking like the biggest dick in the stadium.

Bettman figures out how not to get boo'd. Bring up a passing man's family and move a team to canada every year.

edit: ha ha ha ha nice HTFN.

How to dump salary? Drop the rumor that you're trading the legend to their arch rival. How the heck did Lombardi dump that contract....

Note to other teams: get up there and make the pick. Just like that.

Not sold on RNH whatsoever. Anyone think he's got a chance to step straight into the NHL for 2011-12?

McPhee's says he's not too interested in this year's draft since it's so lousy. Pretty swift move as a GM to diminish the value of your own picks--why wouldn't you shut up about that and trade the worthless picks for futures or a player?

It makes people that want to trade up to the late first more likely to give the Caps a call then maybe the guys in front or behind them. Goals have to be obtainable. If a team thinks a pick is up for sale they may be more likely to put in effort to acquire that pick, unlike GM's that say they have no interest in trading a pick or in this case a GM that would claim to be in love with the players available.

Not a fan of Landeskog being picked over Larsson. Not a fan of that at all.

Not a big fan of Florida's D depth but the quickest route to competitiveness is taking a forward.

Now for Lou to sprint up to the podium.

Don't like the thought of NJD having Larsson. Not a fan of that at all.

Looks like a need pick for FLA to me. That team hasn't had a star forward in a long time.

Yeah didn't Fla take a D last year? I figured they could build like Nash and get strong D kids then go for the forwards later. Of course Nash just never stopped drafting the D!
