Tampa is quietly loading up on Russians. Don't like that Yzerman is trying to steal our market. Euro loving *******. We're supposed to be the Euro team in the Southeast! We let Carolina have the Finns, but Tampa moving in on our Russians is too far.

He's gotta be. Caps will have the luxury of leaving him in a very good program for four years if they choose.

He's headed to Minnesota.

Travis Boyd, F- Another solid game and opportunistic goal from the unheralded forward from Hopkins, Minnesota. He's a darting, quick little guy with the shiftiness and smarts to make things happen at both ends. He's a better shooter than we thought, beating Vasilevski clean with a bullet from the slot, and he also has some creativity, as he scored the shorthanded goal against Slovakia by making the goalie commit and then just using his own speed and momentum to guide the puck into the open space the netminder vacated. It doesn't seem like much, but when you factor in the kind of natural feel it takes to make a play like that at top speed, you have to give the kid credit.

In 2012-2013, right? I would imagine he'll play in the USHL next season and then go to Minnesota. Kind of like Caleb Herbert did last year.

From 2008 Select 15 PDC. Grimaldi, Biggs, Miller, and Ambroz also attended so he was invited along with some good company.

-- 5’9”, 150 lb. Travis Boyd of Minnetonka, Minn and Hopkins HS. Smart player. Sees the ice very well. Didn’t put up a lot of points here, but by the time he’s a senior in high school, we think he could be one of the top scorers in the state of Minnesota. (Red)
Old info obviously, but still provides a little insight.

Looks that way, although I don't believe his rights are owned by anyone currently.

Edit: Whyno says he'll be a Gopher next season.

Back to Soberg and that HF interview:

"SS: Well, our mother is American. She was born in the US."

Ha, Carolina takes another Sutter.

Edit: And he's an overager that had 14 points in 72 WHL games this season. That's a head-scratcher.

Soberg listed at 5'11

Potential Dark Horse / Steal at Bleacher Report (won't let me link?)

Quote:
Projected to go 208th.

Played for Norway at the 2011 U18.

Slight and light at 5'11", 165lbs, Steffen is super fast, agile, with quick feet, fantastic reflexes and a lightning glove hand.

Was a highlight reel for saves this past U18. Sporting an average of .931 and considering the number of shots he faced, his speed, poise and calm demeanor were not missed by scouts.

Teams could have him already as their No. 1-ranked goaltending prospect and it wouldn't be surprising as his draft stock is rising.

He's 6'4" and has the last name Sutter. Good enough for a 7th rounder, I suppose.

Also, the 14 points was 2009-2010. In 2010-2011 he had 42 points in 46 games.

Ah, Central Scouting didn't have updated stats then. I didn't even think to check the year.

The reverse powerhouse effect?

Curious why Jeremy Boyce-Rotevall hasn't been selected.

GoldenGopherHky: Lucia on @washcaps pick Travis Boyd: “Travis is a skilled center. He sees the ice exceptionally well and is a tremendous playmaker. He is good on draws. He can play on the power play on the half wall and can kill penalties. I think as he adds strength that he will be able to play in any situation that we have going into the next few years.”

Good name. I think Jagger Dirk is the best prospect name in the draft, however.
