Yeah, seems unfortunate would couldn't get involved in that action. But if you are going to send Soupy somewhere, I'm sure they would rather not sent him to a team in the same division.

#Blackhawk Brian Campbell was suppose to be traded to Columbus earlier but wouldn't waive his no trade clause.

All you had to do was ask around press row, Porty.

Wow, where the hell to this hate come from with Soupy? Geez. I understand not liking a player, but wow...

We could have shifted some salary around and made it work.

Supposedly someone in the Jackets org told him a while ago that Campbell hadn't refused to waive his NTC to come to Columbus. If someone lied to AP, big deal. Wouldn't be his fault.

I wouldn't be surprised if the other press wasn't full of crap as well.

Quit blowing it out of proportion. I dont hate the guy nor do I really care about him but if you want to go to FLA for the rest of your career, be my guest.

I don't get the opposition to acquiring Campbell. He is a great puck moving dman who can run a PP. He is what we needed. As Viqsi pointed out, there are only about 8 quality dman available in free agency and there are about 15 teams looking for them. Our chances of making a major acquisition for a dman during free agency are not that good. Trade is the way to go. And I question how many dman that we can get thru trade would better suit our needs than Campbell.

You do realize that if we can't make the needed moves we are forced to rely on Kristine Russell for another year as part of our defense.

I don't particularly like it if he refused CBJ, but not having Campbell's contract 5 years from now isn't exactly a bad thing.

On the positive side, some of these trades mean that some candidate teams that might have been pursuing FAs aren't anymore.

Still... Burns AND Campbell AND Liles? All on the same day? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

If all these guys are vetoing trades to Columbus, it does not bode well for our UFA pursuit.

Disagree. In fact, I think the fact that the Jackets are willing to spend plenty of money right now on a guy like Campbell is encouraging.

Seems like the pocket book is finally opening up for talent. And while I would prefer to keep Campbell a long way away from us, I'm happy for what it means. Howson is riding the line of aggression and risky, though. I'm glad he is willing to take the risk, and everything, just not sure it's the move we need at the moment.

Well the question is whether the money we will offer will be enough to overcome what appears to be a reluctance to play here.

Always funny how rumors spread and people always look for the worst, in this case saying "players refuse to come to Columbus" --

I was never a huge fan of BC. I'd rather go for someone like Ehrhoff. It would be nice to have a German on the team. Perhaps I'm a bit biased, though.

Mostly I wouldn't want BC's contract, as others have said.

Liles, Campbell and Burns all moved last night.

I sure Hope Howson and the Brass weren't playing sudoku at the draft table all night....

Campbell is very good but we do not want him at the contract price or what it would have taken to get him. Honestly some of you are being way too sensitive about any kind of snub. He ain't worth the money and there are other defenseman as good if not better. It is more a business for players than we realize.

Enjoy the Carter acquisition. That was big. The Campbell trade should not affect us negatively. We should look for a D-man on July 1. No need to panic and overpay with $ or players.

We should not just throw $$$ to every available player. We can go after the player we like who fits what Arniel is doing..

I think what it boiled down to with Burns is that Minnesota was looking for a proven scoring winger.

Campbell, it might have been the NTC but rightfully Howson was scared off by the amount of money Campbell will earn in 5 years.

Regehr? I'm not exactly certain why he didn't go after Regehr more. Maybe didn't want the inclusion of Kotalik. Who knows...
