We now have an elite vision/hockey sense C who can dish forehand and backhand, will likely play with 2 snipers who use different styles of attacks. When they mature, they'll be tough to defend against.

I'm glad they didn't do anything stupid and took the guy we needed, who also happens to be the bpa of the draft.

We FINALLY have a 1C again!!!!!!
Cant wait till there dubbed AWL all world line

He's a very quiet, shy-ish person and it will take some time getting used to the interviews and cameras in front of him all the time. He's a quiet killer though, who cares if he's stumbling and saying ''I mean uhh'' every sentence during interviews when he's dishing out some of the nicest no look backhand saucer passes in the league.

RNH and Hall together.. I don't even know how to describe that awsome in words!

Wow, I feel bad for this kid and this thread, it seems the Smyth stuff has stolen the show. This is a weird pick, it is almost like Edmonton fans don't know how to react. Any way, this kid is a stud, he put up numbers in the WHL that are almost unheard off. he will be a star player in the NHL, unreal hockey sense and vision. THis guy will be more then a complement to Hall, I think he is better than Hall.

The reason he looks small compared to Hall is because he IS small compared to Hall. He is small compared to Hall a year ago.

To be honest, I thought he was going to get knocked over when he was up on the stage. All those men trying to pat him on the back and shoulders was knocking him around a bit. He's a small number one and I wish I was more excited about this pick. Tambo seemed very pleased to be making the pick, and all the mock drafts seemed to point this way, but I remain unconvinced. Time will tell. I consider Larsson to be the real player out of that pack.

Yea how is this like half the size of the Klefbom thread? I guess we all know a lot about RNH and not much about Klefbom but where's the enthusiasm? Today is the beginning of a new era. Personally, I'm stoked.

I also don't think he's a very shy kid... I think he did well in his interviews. He seemed like he didn't know how to react to Cabby though, but neither do half the NHL players he talks to.

Hall is a more outgoing kid though, but I don't think that makes RNH shy or anything. Not that there's anything wrong with being a bit shy, it's not easy dealing with media and fans. I like that they're both pretty modest kids, they always seem to have a laugh during interviews and seem to be genuinely excited about the direction the team is going in.

I'm totally stoked too.

Usually we may see elite duos in the NHL, but not elite lines.

In particular, often on lines that do well, there is the perception that 1 of the linemates is feeding or riding off the other 2.

But this one, it's like the Beatles, minus Ringo !!

So stoked! Wish he can add a few more pounds by training camp. Hopefully he looks good out there and cracks the team!
Hall-RNH-Eberle line should be killer for years to come

Does Ryan Nugent-Hopkins supplant Brayden Schenn as HF's #1 Prospect?

Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin were 1 and 2 after they were drafted. RNH has more upside than Schenn IMO.

Welcome to the Oil RNH

I was soooo nervous, hoping that Tambo wouldn't do something stupid and trade away the first pick, or follow Pierre McGuire's idiotic advice (notice how as soon as the Oilers went up to pick, he realized that despite all his high praise of Larsson, he wouldn't be chosen, so he jumped on the RNH bandwagon and started going on and on about how the Oilers needed offense, all of a sudden. And then he sucked up to the kid saying how he should have been on the Junior team. Just pathetic.)

Hall - RNH - Eberle, is a superstar line and gives us one of the best up and coming offenses in the current NHL. What isn't there to be excited about?!

This kid sends chills down my spine. I'm glad that he gets to take it to the next level now. Hall will need fresh tape for every shift.

"But the Tambellini family has been watching Nugent-Hopkins for a while now. Right back to last summer, when Jeff Tambellini, the Vancouver Canucks winger, found himself on some summer ice in Vancouver with Nugent-Hopkins, who is Burnaby-born.

"I grab him and say, 'OK, you're coming with me on the next line,'" the younger Tambellini told The Sporting News a couple of weeks ago. "The kid set me up for three open nets ... he slips through everything.

"He makes good plays, he's great in traffic, he's good on his feet. He gave me three open netters, and I'm going, 'I'm sold.'"

I'm just happy that RNH was drafted #1 overall. What a shame had they drafted a Dman and RNH was picked by Colorado in the division.

Just my $0.02, haven't read anything yet.

I loved that. To me, that was a subtle shot across the bow to Renney and Tambellini saying "enough with this Horcoff as my C crap"

His only downside is hyphenated names don't allow for decent acronyms.
