SCOUTING REPORTS:

Hockeyprospect has Z-Bad ranked 4th overall

Quote:
Mika is a big hard working two-way forward who has as quick a release as
we have seen in a long while for a kid at his stage of development. The puck
explodes off his stick. His skating is not pretty but he is very quick, a bit ugly
but effective might be a way to de-scribe his skating. He uses slightly
short choppy strides to dance all over the ice but he does it with pretty good speed and he gets after it. This kid looks like the energizer bunny at times. He is not afraid to go to the dirty areas and he forechecks like nobody’s business. Mika sees the ice very well and is as adept at playmak-ing as he is to scoring with his fantastic shot and soft hands. In short, this kid is just a blast to watch. He seems to be having as much fun as the fans who are watching him.

He has great vision on the ice, is hard working and he has an outstanding shot with an outstanding release to go with a 6'2, 190 pound frame. Just imagine how good he will be if he makes progress in his acceleration and explosiveness.

Future Considerations has Ziba at 10 overall.

Quote:
A balanced wide leg skater who has a nice top speed that once he get it going is hard to stop or slow down. A power game and uses his strength and size to his advantage in both sides of the puck. Throws hits, has good energy and engages in battles all over the ice, usually coming out ahead. Hard to knock off the puck as he shields it with his reach and body positioning. Sees the ice well and makes chances for himself and his teammates by driving the puck to the net or getting one of his heavy and accurate shots on net. Can handle the puck but is not really a quick stick puck dangler but instead utilizing more of the strong power moves and positioning. Plays with some compete and real desire to win. Defensively he has
some room to grow but is aware most of the time and does backcheck effectively. Should be a real beast once he adds another twenty pounds of muscle.

I am not sold on him as a player, at least not as a top-10 pick, but I like what I'm hearing from his interviews. Very smart and open-minded guy. He's already learning french too. Should be fun to see how he develops with the Sens.

Not going to read all 4 pages but if anybody is dissapointed in the pick - dont be. Zibanejad is great and have alot of talent and IMO he will be a great player which will give you a great 1-2 punch in the future with Spezza and Zibanejad. Awesome pick by Ottawa!

..and Puempel. What a draft for you

Congratulations!

What a great pick. Big fan of Zibanejad. I think he will be one of the bigger surprises. I'm jealous. You guys know what you're doing. passing on Couturier was the right thing to do

But he's not that little... in fact he's larger than your average human being. Also, Z-Bane can be chanted if (when) he pulls off some highlight reel calibre stuff... or you know... drops someone on their a** in open ice.

I forgot to mention. Ill be studying abroad in Stockholm, so ill be attending several Djurgarden games (most likely against Skelleftea to see Sorenson and Brynas to see Silfverberg) so i thought i would mention that ill attempt to serve as a mini scout for our forums in addition to the perspective from the Senators fans living in Sweden.

From a Leafs Fan: Salaam, Mika Jan. Khosh Omadid beh Canada! Mika Zibanejad!

From a Leafs fan, I'd like to congratulate the Ottawa Senators on drafting such an AMAZING talent.

Nice to see fellow Iranians get drafted into the NHL!

Anyway, I'm happy to have him. From the sounds of it he'll be a great centreman on this team. Glad to have Z-Bane on.
