i'm encouraged by the amount of minutes he keeps racking up and the fact that he isn't sinking in +/- despite the poor record.

Ye 21 minutes even tho we were playing with 8 D's is very good.

SouthSwe to whom current NHLer would you compare Brodin to? I have only seen him playing live once (in Karelia Tournament) and I was having hard time making a comparison to him. He is quite unique player I think. Fast, plays well in both ends, puck-moving d-man etc. And how good his shot is? He didn't shoot too often against Finland or I didn't notice him to shoot.

Thanks in advance.

Ye I've always had a hard time finding someone to compare him with. He got very quick feet and is very good at going backwards with the puck in small areas near the boards while being checked by a forward and then within a split second he leaps forward getting away.

He does this alot, he's very fast toggling between backwards and forward skating.

The shot is probably the thing he can work on the most. He very often get a pass along the board from an forward from behind the net area, takes control of it skating backwards along the blueline and releases a wristshot, mostly for teammates to redirect.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic? Both rely on positioning and quickness, and can chip in offensively.

One of the most impressive with Brodin is that he has only been in on 8 ES goals against in 26 games... logging roughly close to 20 mins/night.

I don't know what it would take for Brodin to increase his point production. His shot is far from great and he needs to work on it.

He has a great hockey sense.
His skating is amazing. Both quickness and speed.
He is a great puck mover.
He is a great passer.

I thought he would get some more points this year, but he ain't getting them.

Won 4-1 against Frölunda away.

Brodin and Klefbom paired up but didn't have the best of games.
I wasn't able to see this game but so I was told atleast.
Klefbom was abit lost when Frölunda scored their goal.

Brodin played 14.47, went +- 0 with 2 shots on goal.
We used 8 D's this game.

We're now only 6 points from the lead(tho with one game more played), how on earth did this happen, it's the worst season our club has ever faced, we can't score and suddenly were in the top again.

The league is so tight this year and all teams are stealing wins from each other. Win 2 in a row and u pass 3-4 teams in the standings right away.
Only 10 points separating the leaders from those placed 9th.

Next game for us is on thursday at home against those in the rock bottom, Timrå.

From everything I've ever heard from people who've watched SEL, Brodin is better in almost every regard.

Lost 2-3 after penalties at home against Timrå in probably the most boring game I've watched the last 5 years.

Brodin played 13.35, 1 shot on goal and went -2.
1 assist tho.
In the first period he got the puck at their blueline, skated along the boards towards the end board then crashed the net almost scoring.

Tho we need to stop rolling on 8 D's. Just not working, we're changing pairs to often and they don't get a rythm.

Shots 46-22 still only 2 goals.

Sounds like Brodin's minutes keep getting cut. Any idea why?

As SouthSwe mentioned they are playing with 8 d-men so that's propably why. Don't know though if there has happened something else behind the scenes

Maybe they are working other D-men into the loop to prepare for when Brodin is at the WJC.

It seems a little early for that though.

20 mins / game to two around 14 shouldn't just suddenly happen. But if his play has been good I guess were just reading too much into it.

statistics

one reason why he only saw 13 minutes could be because of powerplays, he doesn't see much time on the PP so if Timra gave Farjestads a ton of PP time it could explain that

also looking at the sheet, it seems other then nygren and svec all the other dman got around 13-14 mins of play.

too early to read into it, he could have just had an off game who knows

in all honesty i would wish Farjestads gave Brodin a chance to run the pp, i know he doesn't have "a shot" but his smarts showed at eval camp that he can runt he pp, actually thats one thing i will be looking at during this years WJC

Won 5-3 away against Modo and our win every second game streak continues and is up to 13 right now.

Atleast we have started to shot and score more.
19 goals the last 5 games and 90 shots the last 2.

Brodin played 17.54, 3 shots on goal and 2 wide.
+1 and a 2 min penalty for puck out.

Next game and loss on monday away against HV71.

Looking at some WJC stuff, and saw Brodin listed at 82 kilos. That's 180 pounds, a far cry from the 168 he had at the draft. Another 5-10 and he'll be good to go.

Ah man, poor kid. Must've been tough on him to eat all that extra delicious pound-packing food. I am on the same dietary regimen, minus the training. Pretty demanding stuff.

Won 3-1 away against HV.

Best game we've done all season and the 2nd period was the best since last seasons playoffs.

Brodin played 18.20. +- 0. No shots.

4 points from the lead now. Tho 1 more game played than most.
