Burns traded? Not a really fan of Setoguchi. Would be happier if was Pavelski.

But surely the Sharks are bigger fans of Pavelski than Seto

I still cannot see it. Brodin is a reliable 2nd pair D-man, not a no. 1 guy, which Beaulieu could've been...

whether Brodin busts or not our D is going to be scary-horrible next year.
Now to go along with lots of blown coverage we have no scoring!
Hooray!

Cuz he supported the team he now plays in, when they met MoDo in the quarterfinals of the lock-out season. Where the Sedins were diving all the time. And it was quite a brutal series

Souray kept saying "belarus" every time he passed the net where Tommy Salo was standing, and he replied saying that Souray can't shoot for s**t. Souray then scored and the fight was on

I highly doubt the selection of Brodin had anything to do with the Burns' trade. You draft the BPA, not the biggest need, not to fill an immediate hole.

Burns would be my lifetime favorite player if he and Fletch had a plan where Burns doesnt re-sign with Sj & instead comes back to Minnesota as a FA for a hometown discount! How awesome would that be!? hahaaha wont happen but would be sooo awesome. Now thats how you "retool" hahahaa

There's a little word that I'd like to introduce you to: collusion.

We'd be fined into oblivion.

I would have liked to see the WILD have picked TYLER BIGGS with the 28th pick.

I feel like he is going to be a solid 3rd liner/fan favorite kind of player.

But with Biggs gone now ..... we gotta get another scorer for the pipeline

Okay this talk of him being small (6'1, wtf???) and a bust is ridiculous. Sober up guys. Seriously, he's 6'1 165 at 17 years old, that's plenty of size to project into the NHL.

Also, do you know how many points Lidstrom scored in his draft year? Two. Two assists. Zero goals.

Bob McKenzie actually projected Brodin 10th overall. Good call for him.

Quote:
Impressed scouts playing a regular shift in the Swedish elite league and killing penalties. Didn't produce much offensively at the U-18's, but reconfirmed his top ten status with a smart, steady effort.

Strengths - Natural skater with excellent mobility in all directions. Excellent gap control, reads the play well, good vision. Smart defender who rarely gets beat or caught out of position, poised puck mover.

Weaknesses - Not overly physical, needs to add some muscle. Could play with more of a sense of urgency, has some offensive skills but often defers to others.

NHL Upside - there have been quiet whispers about him being compared to a young Nicklas Lidstrom, but his offensive game would need to develop. Top-two defenceman potential.
What I'm curious about is what Fletcher is thinking with the Burns trade and drafting Brodin. This kid CANNOT be NHL ready, so he HAS to have something in mind.

I dont have a problem with Brodin. To me, he will be a level above the rest of our D prospects when they all pan out. spurgeon, god love him belongs in 3rd pairing. Considering as a non-athlete who just exercises to be in shape i went from 6'0" and 140 to 6'1" and 180 in about 2-3 years, I have no worries about him gaining some muscle/weight.

I was super up on armia earlier, but I care less now that we didn't get him. I was however super pissed that couturier got dangled in front of us like that. same with hamilton.

Just an general score card ESPN gave Brodin:

His only knock is his physical maturity? I'll take it.

Just got back from the draft...

When I heard us pick Brodin, I definitely did not know how to react at first. The pick seemed a little off the board and I was a little disappointed that we didn't go for Murphy. Now after letting it all sink in, I'm trusting that Fletch and Flahr know what they're doing. I remember being pissed last year when we picked Granlund with Fowler and Gormley still on the board but I'm eating those words now. Murphy would have added a more offensive defensemen to our cupboard, but the Brodin pick isn't half bad either, especially if he turns out like some people think he will.

yeah but fowler in hindsight would have been pretty great considering we just lost burns and our future top pairing D in Brodin is far from ready.
