If we get Malkin, we'll finally have a top centre, but for what it would cost i'm guessing suddenly we'll have poor defense, wingers and prospects.

Kulemin or Schenn? More like, Kessel+Schenn+Kulemin, and a plethora of 1st rounders. Why would the Pens consider anything less? Hell, they probably won't even consider that.

Toronto doesn't have the assets necessary for Malkin. They can't afford Malkin.

no you're right you're absolutely right.......fold up the tent boys the show's leaving town...perhaps though just for a second consider this

How well did the Penguins manage without the services of their two guys? Hockey is still a business and with Sid, Staal and say a Colborne down the middle and add a MacArthur on the wing plus some picks....hey you never know? oh wait you already do

not a comparison to Malkin at all, please let me explain...the consensus on these boards was that the Leafs did not have the necessary assets on hand to acquire those players..........see how that works

uuuuggggghhhh...why are we put through this?

Garbage rumors which prompt the biggest of Leaf homers to come out of the woodwork and post absurd trades.

Us rational Leaf fans now not only have to deal with the frustration of "hey here's a cool rumor you'd like, but hahaha it has 0 percent chance of coming true" but also trying to make sure we're not all cast in the light of those who think Kulemin + Aulie + 2nd is a fair trade for Malkin.

If this happens, Toronto be paying alot. Start with their 3 best players/prospects:

Kessel, Kadri, Schenn....

Probably won't be worth it in the long run to the maple laughs.

When did I say Leafs fans are dumb?
I can't, and you know I can't. The only player you could name, however, would be Lindros and he wasn't damaged goods yet like Malkin is. No star returns a package like the one you mentioned.

If Malkin was coming off of a Hart, Art Ross and Conn Smythe, I would probably agree with you. Too bad that isn't the case.

If you don't like dreaming Leafs fans, don't open the thread.

(I do not condone this kind of rumour, I'm just saying.)

Kessel or phaneuf alone, maybe with a 2nd (first with phaneuf) would get malkin

Where are these overvalued insane proposals coming from? It's like everyone pretends there is no salary cap, contract and financial limits- a trade will be significant piece for piece with incentive but never too lopsided-

The league doesn't work that way anymore as there is such a thing as too many picks, too many players, too much money

We live in a cap world

Strong reading comprehension skills the three of you have.

Did I say Kessel and Phaneuf were of equal value to Malkin? No?

No wonder this site is so easy to troll when most of you are can barely decipher a sentence.

I have a hard time believing TO will be able to pull off a big trade unless they get really ballsy. Any big names that are being dangled are going to get offers from other teams as well and the Leafs don't have that many great assets compared to other teams. It will put Burke in a position where he'll have to overpay to get what he wants. It's tough for TO, but that's what happens when you sell away your drafts for Kessel. That trade will continue to haunt them until they can rebuild their prospect depth.

No it wouldn't. Pens have absolutley 0 need for a defenceman, and Kessel has a history with Sid, so just from that perspective it's laughable. Don't even start me on ridiculously undervaluing Malkin....

:h elp:

Right because it was having a winger to play with Staal, or an extra expensive d-man playing 15 minutes a night that was holding them back from contending this year... not missing 2 franchise centers. Something that kept Toronto in the basement and could have been easily fixed without acquiring Kessel.

This post is not endorsed by leaf fans!

And your talking about cap, go take a look at Phaneufs.

I gladly send both + but the pens don't want that salary..
