I love Smyth, but the kids deserve to have 100% of the spotlight on their draft day, not have to share it with a 35-year-old veteran.

Just throwing this out there...but do you think it's possible Smyth requested it not to be announced (like a "condition" of the trade) until after the 1st round is complete so to not steal any of the Oilers' first round picks thunder? Like others have been saying, to let the kids have their day. Smyth was drafted once upon a time, he knows the stress & excitement of it all; plus getting drafted only comes once in a lifetime.

Sure, like the rest of the NHL cares..Just be a professional and announce it, like any GM would do..It has nothing to do with the 'kids'. Once they're drafted, they could care less...It smacks of small-mindedness..

I don't have a problem with any of that. I'm just saying that Ryan Smyth is Mr. Oilers and a return is big news so Tambellini shouldn't be shocked when Duthie has to do his job and ask about it.
