TSN 2011 NHL Draft chat Blog

Craig Button: Matt Puempel is the best goal scorer in the draft. Great around the net and with his determination to score, there will be lots of traffic at the opposition net. This is a player who fits in so good with the skill in Ottawa and has size and willingness to make it miserable for the opposition defense.

Craig Button: I think Matt Puempel can be the gem from this draft.

WOW! I'd be stoked if I didn't think Button was severely delayed.

We basically discount everything Button says the rest of the time, so can't put a lot of stock into it now that it's positive. But still, nice to hear.

LOL I like this. I wonder how much longer these two will rob eachother. Maybe its a mutual plan for them to stir up publicity for the rivalry!?!?!

I think this was part 3, Apparently the Ducks were after Karlsson when Burkie was there

Puempel on the Leafs would be one of the most overrated prospects ever. Thankfully us Sens fans are much more reasonable.

50 goals next year in the OHL on a bad Petes team. Yah that's a pretty good pick.

Not really. We are one of the worst teams in the NHL at overrating prospects, although our team is one of the best in the NHL at developing young talent so maybe the praise is somewhat justified.

I can see it already.

Puempel - "Best goal scorer in the draft, would have gone top 10 if not for injury!"
Noesen - "Murray compared him to Corey Perry, who he drafted. Potential Hart winner"
Zibanejad - "What really seperates this guy from Landeskog? If he played in N.A he would have been selected top 4"

I wasn't really being serious. Like all fanbases there are always going to be those who overrate their prospects while others are much more rational.

Either way I'm really excited for all three guys.

I always smile when people make statements like this that are completely impossible to back up. Thanks for playing!

This pick made the draft feel like a massive success for us eventhough it probably was already!

I love this pick. Puempel was touted as potential top 5 pick before the season started, but playing on such a horrible team and getting injured really hampered his stock. Murray moving two good picks to get him really shows how high they we're on him. Murray trollin' Burke and Leafs fans was just hilarious, this was an awesome pick in every aspect

This was a major coup. Definitely worth two 2nd rounders and will be a great top 6 winger. A lot untapped potential playing on such a poor team. Still was on pace to score 45 or so.

Does he have any chance to play with Team Canada at the World juniors? How about on a line with Mark Stone?

I think everyone is referring to how Tim Murray was thanking the same way Burke did. Could be wrong tho.

I'm also super excited about our picks. Especially Puempel. I was always high on him, amazing!

Sens fans posts' speak for themselves, they are proof in themselves. Anyways, ALL the Canadian fanbases overrate their prospects. No exceptions.
