CSN to air 3 classic games in November

Quote:
* * With the NHL season still on hold, thanks to a dispute between the owners and players and the ensuing players' lock-out, Comcast SportsNet Chicago has found a fun way to air some hockey games during the month of November. CSN Chicago will broadcast three "Chicago Blackhawks Classics" this month. The first game to be shown is a vintage black & white telecast from December 11, 1971 of the Chicago Blackhawks at Toronto Maple Leafs, featuring NHL icons Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, and Tony Esposito. This special broadcast will air this Friday, November 16th at 7:00pm. The second game will be the NHL All-Star Game from January 19, 1991, which was held at the Chicago Stadium, two days after the start of the "Operation Desert Storm" Gulf War, and featuring Blackhawks Chris Chelios, Steve Larmer, and Jeremy Roenick. This game will air on Tuesday, November 20th at 7:00pm. The third game will be the "NHL Winter Classic" between the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks, which was played on January 1, 2009 within Wrigley Field. This broadcast will air Tuesday, November 27th at 7:00pm. "Chicago Blackhawks Classics" will be hosted by Comcast SportsNet's Pat Boyle, who will be joined in-studio by such guests as Pat Foley, Eddie Olczyk, Denis Savard, and Bob Verdi.

I really don't understand why they'd show that over say, the '92 Campbell clincher, other than the fact it was on NBC.

No thanks to watching the Winter Classic when they show it like 5 times a year on NHLnetwork already.

Show some old games for christ sake. Like they showed the 1971 Hawks/Toronto game with Hull and Mikita. That is stuff I want to watch, plus stuff from the 80s/90s but not something that I can pretty much watch all the time and just happened 5 years ago...not to mention WE LOST THE GAME.

NHLNetwork does the same thing and it is so annoying. Why would I want to watch some dumb rerun from the 2012 playoffs when you have access to stuff from the 70s, 80s and 90s. They have shown games from the 2011/2012 playoffs probably 13,502 times for each game....who is honestly watching?

But then they have the "Raising the Cup" series that shows the Cup clinching game from every Stanley Cup from like 1970 on and I watched every one of those. It is great watching the old greats like Bobby Clarke, Larry Robinson, Guy Lafleur, Mike Bossy, then on to Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, ect. but even then it limits your viewing selection because now I've seen all of them and there is no old games I can watch on NHLnetwork. Maybe I am in the minority but I don't see why anyone would want to watch the 2012 playoffs over Wayne Gretzky in his prime.

I remember that night well. I had tickets in the 1st balcony for game 5 of the conference finals against Edmonton...but that night of gmae 4 I was going to a concert. Had a great time at the concert, came out to find out the Hawks had won and my tickets were now rolled over to the next round - for the SCF!! That was pretty exciting.
