Thanks man! We appreciate it any time someone volunteers info on our guys. Especially love it when it's good news! Any time you want to drop by, feel free--even with bad news. Like to hear the good stuff but getting the negative along with it helps keep us from getting too high expectations. Glad to see that one worry is erased: he's definitely not a product of Huberdeau

We still had the draft page going so with it just barely being on the second page, I just decided to merge your post into here. No harm in creating a thread, though. It probably could have just stood on it's own anyway...

But thanks for the update. He just continues a line of recent picks that appear to be progressing after the Wild draft them. We aren't too used to that around here.

Despite today's loss, he continues his streak to 22.

Is he closing in on or passed a record or anything?

If not what is the record?

Here is the team records on Wikipedia. He already has one(most goals in a game), and might pass Hubby's totals if he picks it up a bit, but it doesn't look like it so far.

EDIT: I did my math wrong. If he keeps up his pace and plays 65 games he'll get just under 120 points, which would be a record. Good stuff.

You might want to say why congratulations are in order.

Of course the tweet that said Phillips signed a NHL contract is deleted (it was "just signed my first NHL contract! #minnesotawild") so either he got hacked or it's not official and the Wild were not kosher.

So is Fletcher just working his ass off to get all our ducks in a row or what is going on lately?

He's not really a forgotten draft pick. He's exceeding our expectations though.

Phillips learns tweet lesson

Wild prospect Zack Phillips got his hand slapped and a lesson in social media from the Wild minutes after signing his first NHL contract Saturday.

From his Twitter account, "zachphillips7," the 2011 first-round pick tweeted, "just signed my first NHL contract! #minnesotawild."

He deleted the tweet in 20 minutes -- long after word spread quickly. Problem was the Wild hadn't received the signed contract back yet, filed it with the league or announced it.

Nevertheless, Phillips has agreed to his three-year, entry-level deal that begins once he turns pro. He will continue playing in Saint John, where he ranks sixth in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 52 points in 31 games. The contract will be filed Monday.

Finally.

Good to see him get signed as it's a sliding one anyways. Wonder how much his cap hit will be, probably get sent back for a year of junior though next year.

Now just time to get Coyle, Zucker, and Granlund lined up with contracts too.

I'd imagine Zucker'll be about 25k below Phillips and Coyle is about 25k below Zuckerberg. Granlund's going to have to get the max as well.

All these max contracts means no Parise/Suter UFA pickup confirmed?

Anyone else notice in the Wild.com article the lack of Coyle in a couple different areas which the team would normally tout their #2 prospect?

Things like:
Quote:
If they weren't signed as college free agents, the Wild then had to draft the players like Mikael Granlund, Brett Bulmer, Johan Larsson, Jason Zucker, Jonas Brodin, Zack Phillips and Mario Lucia among others.
Okay, that one is understandable since they traded for him rather than draft. But...

Quote:
Once that's done, the Wild has begun to move on with getting several of these players under contract. While Zucker and Lucia are off limits due to their status as college eligible players, the rest can be signed.
That's sort of reiterating the last week. But then...

Quote:
After today's signing of Phillips, the Wild's only remaining priority will be Granlund.
Whoops.

I haven't looked at any of the numbers but even if we signed all of them to max contracts they all won't be moving to the team at the same time, and when they do join the team they will be replacing current players.

So I would guess we still have the cap space for an elite player if CF wanted.

It only has potential to get hairy when they move to their 2nd contracts but by that time Heatley will either be cheaper or no longer on the team.
