Not really. I like some aspects of it, and the general philosophy was very good, shoring up the offense. Definitely the right direction, i'm just far from sold on the details of it (ie. the specific picks).

Anyone else notice Tim Murray looked pissed when announcing the first 2 picks.

Must have felt better after getting that 3rd 1st rounder, as he took the time to thank the crowd and such.

Nonetheless, good show Sens crew.

I'm happy, what is their to complain about? We got 3 first rounders ! I will admit I don't know much about Matt Puempel & Stefan Noesen, but I think our scouting staff knows what they're doing. Can't complain about Mika Zibanejad as well, always liked him & the kid was like on cloud nine

Yeah. The number one need I wanted addressed was forwards, hard not to be satisfied with the haul. Don't know much about Noesen, but really like the Zib and Puempel picks.

Ok Im admittedly pretty bombed right now, but I watched the whole draft on mute at a buddies house (dont even ask what kind of music was playing ), and obviously did not catch a word of this.

Someone PLEASE fill me in. I spouted off at work about how we were going to move up and take Lando at 3 or 4, which didnt happen. One of my bosses, who happens to be a die hard leafs fan, decided to chirp me for a good 2 hours about the leafs vs. sens after the draft, and how the leafs future somehow looks brighter then Ottawa's?? It really got the juices flowin..

ANY ammo whatsoever against the leafs would be much appreciated. Sudbury is enemy territory when it comes to the sens, this is leafs/habs country. I need to stay on my toes.

Well, put me down as the first Ottawa fan to vote "no". Not because I'm not happy with the guys we picked, more because:

a) of the top guys, Zibanejad is the guy I know least about, so I trust you guys.
b) Noesen I actually don't know about
c) This season was just painful to watch and I would've liked to end up with one of the top 4

Puempel I'm actually very satisfied. So not saying that Murray did a bad job at all, he did wonderful with what he had. So I'll trust you guys on Little Z and Noesen, I'm sure they'll be terrific, but not the picks I wanted per se.

Edit: Now, time to do my homework and read the prospect info threads

Since i'm not a sens fan, I'm not voting, but i noticed it was something stupid like ninety something to 2.

If I were a Sens fan, I'd be very happy.

Congrats.

Good thing you guys didn't pack Runblad, 6th and Cowen together for 1st overall.

I wasn't thrilled with the Zibanejad pick, but I'd rather have him than Couturier with his terrible skating, questionable attitude and work ethic. I don't know Noesen at all. I like the Puempel pick.

Bottom line, I am thrilled we got three potential top 6 forwards on the first day. Well done Murray!

I'm not elated by any means about the results, but I'm not upset either. We got three great young prospects. Quite disappointed we couldn't move up for Landeskog. The price must have been ridiculous.

All in all a good day at the draft. Now if we could start out today by making another move to get back to the beginning of the second round I'd be happy. Saad is still on the board, but won't be for long.

I personally like Zibanejad better than Landeskog. Mika has better hands and vision IMO.

Hey folks. I wouldn't be too worried about Noesen...I think he's a great pick for you guys. Had him ranked 25th overall on McKeen's list, and I wanted him higher.

You are getting a very competitive player with soft hands.

I guess I'm still a bit disappointed about that run at the end of the year, I do wonder about what might have been if we'd picked at 3rd, 4th or 5th. So I can't help but be a little disappointed that we didn't end up with Strome or Huberdeau, but I guess you have to play the cards your dealt, and they're the professionals after all!

I do like the Noesen pick now - the more reading of old threads on the prospects board I do, the more I like the pick. Some interesting comments in the Rackell thread here: http://hfboards.com/showpost.php?p=3...8&postcount=36 and the Noesen thread here: http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?p=31280823

Lots of upside across the three picks, it will be fun to see how they develop.

I like Zibanejad, just was debating whether he was a reach at 6. Wouldn't shock me if Winnipeg had him in their radar at 7 though. Pretty stoked that we got Puempel for two 2nd rounders and Noesen I'm slowly learning to live with(I'll trust Bryan Murray scouting until he proves me wrong). Wanted Klefbom though, damn you Tambellini.

No Couturier, oh well I would have liked his raw skill but Zibanejad is looking better in my eyes right now.

Thanks, that's good to know!

I would also like to thank Alexei Kovalev for this draft.

After watching that lazy POS for almost 2 seasons, the Sens are focusing on players with a strong work ethic and high compete level. Well done Alexei, you have shown us the light!

So.... Zib for Hall? (just kidding)

But seriously, thanks. And here's hoping the Oil get Smyth and maybe another vet and make strides closer to a playoff position this year. The Oil are now where I want the Sens to be in a couple of years.

As for the Sens draft, I found the Noesen pick to be a little out of left field, but if I've learned one thing in Murray's tenure as GM, its that we need to trust him and his staff when it comes to the draft. They are MUCH smarter than all of us at evaluating talent.

Leafs fan living in Ottawa.

Think Ottawa did good in the 1st round.

A few thoughts though...

If the Leafs wanted Puempel they could have grabbed him at 22.
I firmly believe they wanted Percy with their 2nd pick. Would have happened at 30 if not for the trade.

I really hope BM didn't make that deal for any reason relating to pissing off Burke.

That being said. I am wondering if Ottawa could have just taken Puempel at 21 and used the 35th on Noesen and held on to the second round pick.

Just a thought.
