Get rid of Wolski, play any of Boyle/Christensen/Avery/Rupp with Anisimov and Callahan if Prospal goes down.

Prospal still would be the second best offensive playmaker on the team behind Richards, despite the fact that he can barely get around the rink.
Get rid of Wolski? No don't do that. If you can keep both Wolski and Prospal you do it. There's nothing wrong with scoring depth. It's something this teams trying to build not remove. The only way I get rid of one or the other is if there's need for cap space for a trade or something.

Back to Prospal. I don't think I'd sign him if I'd think his knee was going to be a problem again. Otherwise I don't have a problem bringing him back if the Rangers can fit him under the salary cap. Too many players? Maybe--but you can turn your excess players into other assets--prospects, draft picks. You can't do that with cap space. And as others are mentioning up above we have questions about a number of players--Wolski, Avery, Christensen, MZA etc. Prospal if he can go is more likely not to be a question. He's a good player.

Let's get "businessy"

The NHL has handed off some of it's advertising duties to NBC

http://adage.com/article/mediaworks/...es-nhl/228633/

Quote:
NBC Universal is set to assume U.S. ad-sales responsibilities for not only the broadcasts of National Hockey League games it airs on NBC and Versus, but also programming on the NHL's own cable network and digital properties. The deal puts "all of the NHL media assets under one roof," said Seth Winter, senior VP-ad sales, NBC Sports Group.

good time to take advantage of all opportunities with the NBA in a lockout. Get the league the best recognition you can with the best methods available.

Yeah with the NBA and NFL (probably going to be worked out) lockouts, this is a great chance to reach out and grab more fans.

More Fans = More Revenue = More Cap Space for next season

Put NBC in charge of programming the NHLN. God knows my 3y/o could run that network better

Interesting. This article links to another article that's also a very good read, too.

I am getting tired of seeing the first round of the playoffs I want to see some analysis of the moves that are being made, and how the teams might stack up come next season

Looks like the Debbies are close to finally hiring a coach

Quote:
So where does that leave Dave Barr? According to one source of mine, he'll be hired on to be an Assistant Coach with the New Jersey Devils. While Lou Lamoriello told Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger that the team won't name a head coach this week, that doesn't mean they haven't hired one yet. My source says the Devils have all but settled on someone and whoever that choice is, will hire Barr as his assistant, and that's why he couldn't commit to the Warriors in Moose Jaw.
http://thepipelineshow.blogspot.com/...rr-set-to.html

Barr played for the Dallas Stars under Bob Gainey and Doug Jarvis

Lou hires Jarvis who is an assistant coach with Boston. Jarvis is former Hab player and an assistant coach in Montreal. Coached under Gainey and Hitchcock in Dallas. An assistant for Julien(former Jersey coach). Jarvis has deep Montreal ties. Played with Lemaire.

Why wouldn't they? Why take the big name coach, when you could take the coach that fits the system best?

Of course, any monkey could play trap and be successful...

That is true. I just hope that him being a first time Head Coach he chokes it up like Johnny Mac did.

Why not play the trap? Franky, Lou would be an idiot if he didn't sign someone who played the trap, because that's how NJ makes its success.

Lemaire was probably the best in the biz when it came to that, though. Let's see what this new guy can do.

Quick, someone notify Eklund that the Rangers are believed to be offering a package of Wolski and Christensen to alleviate the scoring vacancy left by Husselius in exchange for Ryan Johansen and Petr Straka

Doug Jarvis was one hell of a defensive forward. He and Bob Gainey were the best pk'ers for the Canadiens on several Stanley Cup winners.

They have NO choice but to play the trap. Without the trap protecting him, Brodeur is absolutely awful and gives up bad goals on a regular basis. And no one in NJ dare tell Brodeur to sit his ancient ass down ...

So you're going to get a slow, soft team with a putrid defense trapping and trying to win close games. But other teams will know this as well and I doubt they will be as successful as the latter half of last season.

finally some good news. Sorry but if a league chooses toronto over madison ave for its ad and marketing, ur going to get piss poor results. Canadians might be good at playing hockey but man do they suck at marketing it

Yawn. The devils are whack. Id rather have no identity than try to copy any version of the 1976-1989 habs. Robinson, burns, lemaire, julien and now possibly jarvis. Dave barr was a checker on the wings. No identity. The more and more they rely on the trap, the bigger a joke they become, especially in post-lockout nhl
