I would be much more thrilled by our D if we could sign the Wiz and then trade Spacek.

I've got that feeling the Wiz will sign with the Bruins, he'd be a great fit there

I don't think Wiz wants to be a center at this stage in his career.

That's what I call a win/win
Markov-Wiz
Gorges-Subban
Gill-Emelin
Weber/Mara

The habs have bounced between best and worst offensive team based on Markov's availability. Getting more effective forwards would probably not compensate for the back end. Keep Wiz, and deal with the limitations, if there are any, among the forwards.

I'm staying semi-optimistic until I hear Wiz signed 20mil over 4 years somewhere.

A lot of people wanted more grit, The guy played for our Island with a broken face! How much more do they want?

I hope we can sign him, Detroit wants him, hopefully we made him feel at home on our Isle and he liked us.

If I was GM....I would have resigned Wiz and traded Gorges for a top draft pick. The team changed when we acquired Wiz, take the money to Gorges and give it to Wiz. Unless there is something I don't know about. The most I would offer Wiz is 4 million a season.

Either trade Gorges for first rounder and/or package Gorges with a center and prospect for true #1 center and another first rounder.

That is just my opinion but 213 goals for is not good enough. Without a true #1 center, size and skill down the middle in under rated value to a team, just not enough room out there for our small forwards. Increase goal scoring with goals from the blueline.

So actually, in all likelihood, you wouldn't re-sign Wiz, he'd walk away for nothing and you'd have lost Gorges as well.

It's so much easier when you don't have to take into account the players actually signing the contract....

Well...adding a few brain cells....also known as common sense....I wouldn't have traded Gorges unless Wiz was inked. duh!

Guys....are you new to the show. Montreal is never gonna be able to trade rights of a UFA and get something. That would mean an other team willing to help the Habs....not gonna happen.

Trade Wiz and Auld for Sergei Kostitstyn.

At this point, the most we can expect out of Wiz is to go get his rights traded for another impending UFA's rights.

I would expect us to at least offer him a contract.

Who says we haven't? It's in his best interest to go see what the market can offer him, with July 1st being so close.

He's one of the best UFAs available this summer.

That's the thing, we have no clue if Montreal is trying to sign him or not. All this talk about Montreal trying to trade his rights at the draft was just pure speculation. I guess we'll see what happens on July 1st (or before)

Trading the rights to Wisniewski wouldn't be easy. It would narrow down to one or two strong teams he might want to sign with. Even then, the return would probably be no more thjan a lower round draft choice.

Ok, so you wouldn't have signed Wiz because he's asking too much and you would have kept Gorges.

Wait, that's pretty much what is happening, isn't it?

More like the generic late round "future considerations" tied into the new team successfully signing the player.
