Miikka was the best player of Kärpät yesterday against HIFK, and he scored one goal. He has a good shot, I have the evidence right here ( 1:20 on the video).
Salomäki has most points in his team despite having 3 games less than most. I think that Salomäki is 2nd best drafted prospect from finland right now. His puck skills are criminally underrated. He plays similar game to Tuomo Ruutu but is even nastier. Tuomo Ruutu had 23pts in 51 games after his draft year Salomäki has 6goals+2assists=8points in 11 games.
There's always been something about Salomäki, that reminds me of Forsberg in the way he protects the puck. A lot of you have seen this Forsberg Tribute, so it was just fitting to hear a familiar song played on tonight's game opening: Video recap. To those who doesn't speak finnish, Salomäki is the guy with the golden helmet (=most points in his team) and wearing white jersey.
What is his prospect rate btw? Should be 7.0A IMO. He might be NHL-ready next year, given his overall play and his physicality. 40-60 point player with strong defensive play in years to come. Sounds like a match made in heaven for Nashville.

The thing is though that we can't be sure wether he'll be a top 6 player or bottom 6.
7.0A is pretty ridiculous, that means that he will without a doubt be a top 6 guy.
The ranking system is lacking in a sense here that for him, his chance of being a bottom 6 player would be worth maybe an A or a B, while him being a top 6 guy a D or maybe C. and saying he's a 7.0C overall doesn't give justice since he's much more of a sure thing than most players rated 7.0C.
Anyway, he's really good and he's been developing FAST for the last year or so.

My bad, remembered that 7.0 was basically 2-3line forward. Lets say then 6.0A- 6.5B range. IMO a 100% sure-fire NHL player, complete package for 3rd line, just like Teemu Hartikainen.
Salomäki has emerged as one of the best prospects in SM-liiga so far this year. 13 games, 7+3=10, +6. No matter which line they throw him in he makes it look better. He is even less afraid of driving to the net and wreaking havoc than before. I hope Nashville won't steal him after this year.

Miikka is slowing down, he hasn't scored a goal in over a month and has only gotten four assists in that time span. His stats still look pretty good, 7+7 in 22 games and his average Time On Ice is 16:09.
1+2(1 primary, 1 secondary) tonight, 3x2min(last one 13 seconds before the end of the game). Didn't watch the game myself, but at least statistically a good game.
Honestly, I was surprised he was picked as high as he was, but from the games I have seen earlier in the season he looks pretty good. Probably 3-4 line winger, with potential to be decent 2nd liner. Good pick by nashville.
Salomäki had a good game. He had couple of chances to score more goals, but didn´t have luck on those ones. Actually he could´ve gotten a pass or two more, if hes linemates would have put the puck in. He still suprises with his puck handling skills, and he deked one defenceman today with very nice trick, shame it wasn´t in the hilight video though, which is here: http://www.nelonenpro.fi/j%C3%A4%C3%...a/media/362467
Sounds like more of a 3rd/4th liner then? Maybe a Tootoo like player?
I think that's always been the book on him. Good defensive abilities, average offensive ability, high energy player. I think he'll be a high end third liner.
With that said, I would have rather picked someone with more offensive ability with a pick that high. It's not that Salomaki is a bad player, it just feels like more of the same.
He surprises people with his offensive skills but only the people who weren't able to see it before...and I guarantee he has more than average offensive ability!
Your boy Miikka got ejected from the first quarter finals game against Pelicans, for bumping into a referee and now he got suspended for the 2nd game because of that incident.

A bit late with the news, but Salomäki got ejected and suspended again during Game 5 for 3 games (Game 7 is played tomorrow, so if Kärpät goes on he could play starting from the 2nd game)..
