Didier is basically another David Fischer (he is a project...)

thank god it was not our 1st round pick tough...

(I trully hate our draft philisophy but that's just me...)

Didier is a jack-of-all trades for the RoughRiders. He can play a physical game at times, and can also jump in on the rush when needed. He does need improvement on both sides of the puck, but he has plenty of potential both ways. Josh is definitely a project player that could very well turn into a solid two-way defenseman in the future.

From Hockey Prospect

Josiah Didier, D Cedar Rapids (USHL)- Interesting prospect who may be one of the bigger stealth fighters coming out of the USHL this season. Nice size at 6-2, 200 and is pretty mobile, with a powerful stride and better agility, which makes him effective in the two-way game. Not a big point producer, yet the Colorado native still managed eight goals and 21 points as a rookie for the RoughRiders. Puck skills are improving as his passing ability, but has a good shot that he sneaks through on the point. Red Line Report has a nice writeup on him in their April issue thanks to the work of Giese. Might be worth keeping an eye on as we get closer to the draft. Very few public sources are talking about him, but we hear he's not a secret to the NHL scouting community. Raw, rough and a long way off, but certainly has the tools you look for in an NHL prospect.

Well, he's part of the team now, but damn, I always had trouble with Timmins choosing athletes before hockey players...

I like it. A project but with three picks in the fourth, he is worth taking a chance on.

I agree. This sucks.

I honestly don't know a thing about this guy, but we haven't exactly been successful picking these USHL players so high.

No wonder the Habs traded down... nobody else probably wanted this guy at this position. Someone please correct me -- I hope I am wrong!

You're against taking high risk/high reward players in the latter round?

Not a bad pick, but Didier over both Labate and Boucher? I'm quite surprised.

Corey Pronman tweeted this:

MTL takes Didier from the USHL. Never saw him, but one USHL scout I talked to thought he was a potential sleeper in this draft.
