I am really upset, we didn't draft enough left shooting D.

For everyone wanting some big forwards, look at the profile of whom the Flyers took this year:

4 of their 6 picks are forwards 6'3 or bigger.

Nothing new for that team.

Some very surprising ND's for me...

Jean-Gabriel Pageau
Mike McKee
Jesse Forsberg
Zakhar Armazatsev
Myles Bell (well, not really, though a flyer might be tossed out)
Benjamin Conz
Sahir Gill
Maximilien Le Sieur
Brent Benson

I believe Pageau went 1 spot before our 97 pick

Wasn't Conz signed by a team this year?

Don't think so. Unless you mean Lugano.

Hahaha! If you go on the habs site and click on beaulieu's section of the draft, the 1st sentence is:

ST. PAUL – “In this league, you can never have too many good defensemen.”

I guess so!

Sorry, totally missed the Pageau pick. Got home late and haven't reviewed everything yet.

Sucks that Ottawa got him :/

I look forward to watching the highlight videos of our draft picks now. Then waiting for Whitesnake's camp thread, then the actual camp.

Every year I come into the draft expecting the Habs to do something .. this year my expections were:

Either:

1) Move Spacek for any pick and offer Hamrlik a contract

and

2) Move Wiz's rights for ANYTHING if the organization's plan was not to sign him

Guess I should learn not to expect good asset management from the Habs.

There is nothing precventing them from doing that stuff AFTER the draft...I'd rather have them focus on picking the right players and doing draft related stuff for now...

Luke Lockhart, Adam Reid (big winger/Ryan White style), Destry Straight, Matt Killian too.
Out of the bolded, LeSieur is a no-brainer. MTL boy. Decent-sized winger. Camp invite on the way right now

After seeing all of our picks, I think I would be a little more enthused if we had selected Tvrdon instead of Archambault. I really like the Sullivan pick for no other reason than he has at least one definable characteristic (speed in his case).

Without having ever been in scouting, I have come to believe that players drafted late should have at least one or two plus attributes (like NHL projectable skills). Whether it be speed, hands, shot, size, nastiness, fighting, my personal opinion is that if a player does not have anything above average about him, it'll be tough for him to make it (see John Westin or Patrick Johnson).
Sullivan may not put up big numbers, but a right-shooting d-man with decent size and blazing wheels always has a chance in my books.

Aight, NHL 2011 entry draft is history..who's gonna create the 2012 thread and make it sticky??? Us draft junkies are eager to discuss the 2012 already and even the 2013. Alex Galchenyuk for the HABS!
