Please stop posting pictures of people grabbing onto, what is allegedly my ass, or I will be forced to pursue legal action. Thank you.

I can not confirm or deny that the ass in the photo is indeed mine.

Indeed, those were good days.

And yeah: first season was great, every other season was twice as bad as the one that preceded it.

T6S nails it:

Quote:
When Dany Heatley arrived he was a blossoming star in the NHL with ample emotional baggage as a result of an off-ice incident resulting in the death of his friend and teammate.

We greeted him with open arms and were willing to give him a fresh start despite the horrific incident which pales in comparison to a small ruffling of feathers between a coach and player.

How is Filatov's arrival any different than Dany's?

To me, the difference is negligible. If we could embrace Dany by overlooking his faults and the uncertainties surrounding the health of his knee and an eye injury that sustained injury while playing in Switzerland, why are we treating Nikita any differently on the basis that he arrives as a media described malcontent with high end skill?

What's wrong with it? It's just saying that it's not meant in that way. If you consider that negative it's a problem with your outlook.

Heatley's the power forward we've been waiting for. Glad we dealt that perimiter player Euro Hossa.

Just back from holiday and I hear we have filatof, didn't he die last year? Wasn't he the guy that Jagr pushed and he died of pneumonia or something?

Has Ottawa become that disillusioned with foreigners (and newcomers) that we must poke and prod to see if this new kid in town is for real or just another incident waiting to happen?

From his interview on the team he came off as a dick somewhat interested in doing the work needed to MAKE the sens. When he was asked if he would be willing to go down to bingo if he didn't make the team he basically said he only wanted to think positively and would make that decision when it came. He still seems like a flight risk at this point.

I think he plays this season, puts up pretty good numbers like 20-25 goals and say 30 assists, and when it comes to resigning him next off season he will ask for more than he is worth.

The filatof situation is a lot like the movie back to the future, I reckon when we are down in games he'll go all Marty McFly (without dressing as a monkey or bear or whatever it was) and score a few timely goals...

It's weird how two people can come away from the same interview with completely opposite impressions. I think Phillips is a bigger flight risk than Filatov, ESPECIALLY after hearing that interview. I don't know what the big deal is anyway, there's virtually no chance he doesn't come in and make an impact.

It sounds like you're pulling a Don Brennan. You're just reaching, trying to make whatever was said support your stance.

My impression of the interview was that he is happy to be here but he thinks the grass is greener on the other side.

I am not saying he will not have an impact, I'm just saying if he does don't expect him to be humble about it.

Not on did he have problems in Columbus but also with his WJC team that he was captain of.

I think at every level of hockey he played he was the best and that's how he was treated. When he got to Columbus it was a shock to his ego.

Which it probably is. In Columbus it was almost like he was being punished for not being an all-around player. Hopefully, in Ottawa even if he isn't exactly Captain Hustle they will try and teach him instead of rubbing his nose in it. Players with egos have succeeded before, you know.

It doesn't really matter what was said in an interview - we'll know in training camp how ready he is. Players always say the blandest things to the press these days.

It's enough to make you long for JR back in the league!
