Nick Cousins - Centre - Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds
Cousins has quickly worked his way up from project to prospect with his hard working and fearless style of play. He is dependable in all situations and has good vision of the ice. Cousins has a good mix of offensive skills - he is a quality playmaker that uses his linemates well but has also show the ability to finish off chances himself.
Hockey players generally have a ****** taste when it comes to music (at least most of my former teammates... ****ers wouldn't let me have control over the stereo in the locker room.... grumble, grumble, grumble...), but Katy Perry is a bit left field.
Hope he'll turn out good in the end (and that he can convert to wing).
Honestly the Jersey Shore and Katy Perry stuff bothers me less than his favorite movie being Never Back Down. When I first saw someone post those 3 I thought there was no way he wasn't from Long Island or Tom's River, NJ or something.
Maybe not to you but it does to me. When you lead your team in goals and are third worst in plus/minus it tells me exactly where your focus is. I don't like centers who are a defensive liability but thats just me. The good news to me is his age. I didn't like our trend of drafting overage guys. We have plenty of time to get him to focus on D.
Sounds like a Briere type. No, I'm not saying he will ever be as good so chill out. Hes like Briere in the fact that hes a smaller Center that goes into the tough areas to score goals, gets his hands dirty, gets under guys skin and has both playmaking and scoring abilities but lacks on the defensive end.
I didn't see him often this year, but from memory that's not a bad comparison. Although I don't think he's as much of an ******* as Marchand (no bias there whatsoever! )
Cousins, a sophomore with the OHL’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, was a third round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers while Shaw, a 19-year-old, was a fifth rounder to the Chicago Blackhawks.
“It’s a dream come true,” said Cousins, who was the Greyhounds’ second round pick in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection. “I was just sitting there in my seat waiting for my name to get called and once it did I was just ecstatic. My body was shaking and I just can’t wait to get started.”

Also talked to some of the other beatwriters/prospect guys. A lot of people think Cousins had 2nd round potential. Look forward to seeing how he progresses.
The Flyers took Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds center Nick Cousins with their next choice. Although on the smallish side (5′ 10″, 169-pounds), Cousins is a high-energy player. This past season the 71st-ranked North American skater (by the Central Scouting Bureau) scored 29 goals, nearly tripled his 2009-10 total of 11, and more than doubled the amount of points he totaled in the previous campaign – 68 in 2010-11 after 32 last year – all while getting under the skin of his opponents.
The native of Belleville, Ontario doesn’t turn 18 until late next month, and will likely be getting more time to develop in the OHL.
