What a waste of a 1st round draft pick. It sickens me how many times this organization has swung and missed in the first and second rounds.

However I do wish Filatov success in Ottawa.

I guess Portzline deserves an apology, considering all the **** he got earlier in the thread for predicting this.

I almost would've wished Howson had held on to filatov until at least closer to the pick in the question... Make it look it least like someone he wanted was on the board....

Portzline vindicated. Can't believe I'm saying that.

I'm freaking pissed Howson took this deal. WHY TRADE HIM? for a 3rd rounder? REALLY?

Wow, for only a 3rd.

Well, at least that drama is closed.

Maybe he asked to be traded? Oh well, can't say I'll miss him that much.

Unlikely. You don't make a trade for a draft pick 15+ slots before the pick is going to be made because you "think" someone is going to be there. This move reeks of moving Filatov for simply the best offer available.

#CBJ had reached a crossroads w Filatov. Wasn't well-received in Springfield, wasn't ready for NHL. Willing to take decent pick/player.

He. will. never. contribute at the NHL level. And if he somehow claws his way from complete irrelevance you have my permission to quote this post and add a rolleyes smiley. But I won't be holding my breath

+1

One of the best hockey beat writers on the continent. Consistently gets inside info. Disseminates it to the masses quickly. Hate the moves if you want, but don't doubt the fact that Porty has sources. He maybe a source of misinformation because the FO wants to obscure a certain story, but he knows stuff. More than you do.

In past years, I've been always disappointed with how passive Howson was on the trade market...well be careful what you wish for. First he trades my favorite player in the NHL and now he's giving away assets for next to nothing.

Well, that's two Howson first rounders that are now gone; I'd watch your back if I were you, John Moore.

So GMSH then picks up a kid that is 5 ft 8 and 156 pounds? Seems awfully small for a center. The do I read he is only a freshman at Notre Dame. So does the CBJ wait 3 years for him to graduate before getting him into the system? I hope this kids makes me eat my words, but I'm not impressed.

Let's just take all the mistakes from the first 2 rounds into consideration...

Pascal Leclaire, Tim Jackman, Kiel McLeod
Joakim Lindstrom
Nikolai Zherdev, Dan Fritsche
Alexandre Picard, Adam Pineault, Kyle Wharton
Gilbert Brule, Adam McQuaid
Stefan Legein

This team has sucked because our drafting has sucked.
