As a comparison, the Penguins opened on a west coast swing, playing 3 games in 4 nights. Their best player was not on the trip and best player #2 missed the final game. Still they took 5 of 6 possible points and to my knowledge did not complain about the "heavy work load." While it's way too early to throw in the towel on this season, it is irritating to be given lame excuses (or worse, being lied to) concerning poor play. PS Don't enlarge the picture of Hunter! It's for your own good.

And now compare our team and Pens. They have not only Malkin but Staal too if when he does not have points in the game he is great in the defense and create chances for his linemates. They have better defense and especially better g-man.

Coaches of potential playoff teams do not complain about schedule. To garner zero points out of that stretch with a 60 million dollar payroll is not acceptable, even with the loss of Wiz. As you said (the second poster) the Pens have been without the best player in the league. They were without two of the best last year and could have collapsed. They didn't and made the playoffs (last year).

The response should be "The results are unacceptable, we have work to do. These results will not be tolerated.".

That's it. Don't need to hear any of your *****ing and moaning Arniel. Do you job. The flip side is that this is real early in the season and at some point, later down the road, you'll get some extra rest when you likely need it more.

I think this comes back to Nash. He is the C and he shouldn't accept any excuses.
You mkake a gretat point. Using 3 games in 4 nights is no excuse especilally when it is the start of the season and you play the first 2 of those 3 at home. If they're tired now whats gonna happen In dec and jan??

The penguins have an easier travel schedule being in the East.

Here are three quotes from Nash:

“The third period is the step we have to take,” captain Rick Nash said. “We have to hold that lead and win that game. That’s what good teams do."

“They’re a good team. They missed (winning) the Stanley Cup by one game. We played a good 40 minutes and they turned it up in the third. We stayed at the same level.”

“When we were 0-0, there was urgency for this team,” captain Rick Nash said. “So now it has escalated even more. We have to win. We have to figure it out here pretty quick.”

Yeah, blech. He can't know that's on the site. Awful. Face made for writing, not tv.

I lol'd...

Not a bad article, but man, that guy looks a lot like Louie Anderson

Being a writer myself, I can't poke too much fun at his looks, as I'm sure people would say the same sort of thing if my photo was next to my article.

It was a good read, but I really don't think that comparing this team to anything Doug MacLean ever did is a fair comparison at all. I think the biggest thing that we have to remember is that, of a 20 man roster, 11 of the guys on our opening night roster weren't on the team on opening night last year. I think it will take time to gel, and let's face it - we lost to Nashville and Vancouver this week - this is nothing new to our franchise. If, in 5 more games, we've not started to see a turn-around, then I think we can start to panic.
