Umberger just tweeted again. (Perhaps he had second thoughts on how his first tweet would be interpreted.)

Great opportunity for filatov to start over.. wish him best of luck, good kid. Good move for us to improve prospects

More proof that Umberger is a bad teammate.

Maybe, Maybe not.

If Filatov no longer has his sense of entitlement that its his right to play in the league, you may be right.

Sad situation with Filatov. Even if he goes to Ottawa and sets the world on fire, I'll still be of the opinion that he couldn't have done it here. Too much history and baggage, and if RJ's tweet is any indicator, too much venom from teammates.

We got what we could get.

Tynan is one of the best players in college hockey. He was draft eligable last year and was passed by all 30 teams. In his freshman season at Notre Dame he went on to be named the top rookie in the NCAA.

I am a huge Notre Dame fan, so I see the kid play alot.

He is a small player with tremendous skill. Think Marty St. Louis here.

The kid actually wasn't even supposed to play with Notre Dame last season.....he was supposed to go back to the USHL for another season. However, one of Notre Dame's recruits bolted for Jr. Hockey at the last minute, and Coach Jackson asked Tynan to fill the void and come a year early.

Many people have him as one of the early favorites for the Hobey Baker next season.

Did I say I'm pumped about this pick yet? IM PUMPED!

It's good to hear from someone who has sen him play. Do you know if he plans on staying at Notre Dame for all 4 years?

I will never have my favourite player or some of my favourites here because every my favourite player is traded. So I expect the trade Umberger and Boll...

He's from Chicago and it has always been his dream since he was little to go to school at Notre Dame. I play with one of his best friends' brothers.

Notre Dame coach Jeff Jackson is one of the best in the business at developing talent. Because of his small size, Ido see him staying for at least 3 years to develop more physically.

His whole life he's proven people wrong and I don't see it stopping anytime soon...

Hmmm I'm torn.

As a CBJ fan, Howson are you f**king nuts, a 3rd round pick for a top 6 overall pick that was at the time the worlds greatest prospect?

As a Sens fan, I love it! Payback for Vermette.

It looks like the market was slim for Filatov, at least its an early 3rd although I would say they still got the short end on this one. Ottawa had enough draft picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds that they could afford to do this. Its shocking based on Murray and his history with Russians though.

Payback for Vermette? Are you crazy? Filatov hasn't even put on your jersey yet and hes already made up for that trade? smh

You are one of those people who wish we had Zherdev, aren't you?

I love Jake, but shake it up. Let's get something going. I'm enjoying all of the activity. Hope howson keeps that ball rolling and blows up the defense next.

Wow.. somebody needs to lighten up it was a joke. I like Filatov as much as the next person but realistically what the hell has Filatov done here? I don't like the move, but I can least understand why it was done.

The few people from Springfield I've heard comment about Filatov basically had the same comment that he wasn't received well there. I've said all along some players are better suited for the AHL, some are suited for the NHL.

Rocco Grimaldi consolation prize, then?

This makes me feel much better.

And yeah, the Umby tweet speaks volumes. Howson's done this type of trade before many times - when he's kicking a failed experiment to the curb. See: Legein, Zherdev.

A true story about Tynan I thought you guys would find funny:

When he first toured the Notre Dame campus, ND Coach Jackson actually thought he was the Irish's Leprechaun mascot when he first met with him

Literally everything significant involving the Columbus Blue Jackets this week has been while I've been away from the computer. So maybe I'll throw my computer in the pool, have to buy a new one, and we'll end up with Shea Weber. .

Back on topic...Later dude. Thanks for...um...the hat trick against Minnesota that one time.

This seems like a worthless trade. Perhaps Filatov never will pan out in the league, but doesn't some random third rounder have an equal or greater chance to not make it as well? Not to mention this new prospect is comparatively a few years behind in development as well...

I agree with the sentiment that if you're going to trade, at least get someone back that can help us now. Maybe that wasn't possible, but we're looking at going into Free Agency trying to nab two top defenders when we're probably going to have problems getting just one.
