yea I am sure u are right. Most of the minor leaguers on that list will likely be outie.

Not sure how Johnson fits given 3 minor league goalies already slated in.

I assume they can offer Mitchel a two way deal. He has to know he wont get a one way anywhere

This wouldn't be the first time they took some of our leftovers on defense: Thomas Pock, Mike Mottau, and Joel Bouchard. All have worked out very well for them

Good luck to Gilroy wherever he goes, but he was not worth a QO especially with the acquisition of Erixon.

So does this mean that Gilroy won't be in talks at all to come back at a lesser price than his QO, or is he definitely done with the Rangers?

There's no way they will let Johnson walk for nothing when they can qualify him for cheap.

I think Sather's offer stands. Why not?

He wants to test the open market, No clue what Sather's offer was but if he can't find a better one maybe he comes back. Just depends on what the offer was?

seems as though some younger Goalies may jump over him in the depth chart, maybe not

I would also assume Biron gets offered back if he has another good yr. He's not old

Here is the whole Sather press conference, and comments from Clark on all of the day 2 picks.

On having a lot of travel to start the season: “There’s two ways you can look at it. The positive way you look at it is, it’s a chance to bond, to get to know each other, to spend some away time together. We’re going to be in Stockholm together for quite a few days. We’re going to do this for three years, and really have to learn to travel and adapt to it. I think you have to look at it in a positive light, rather than a negative. The other thing is, we go out west, I’ll get a chance to duck hunt.
Sather haha.

Did he say Europe for three years? From what I've seen it seems he only spoke of starting on the road, not Europe specifically. Can anyone verify?

Sather haha.

Interesting article thanks for posting.

Anyone else disturbed by the fact that whenever Drury is brought up they downplay the situation? This should be priority #1 on Slats agenda this summer.

I wish Sather would talk to the media more. Think the Rangers would like to start in Europe for the next three years is what Sather means, but nothing official or decided.

What exactly do you want him to say about it.

Do you want it to be this big public event that everyone talks about and all the media constantly asks questions about it.

I don't really think that's fair to Chris and it's not very professional on Sather's part if he did that.

I have no doubt in my mind that Drury and Richards are the number one priorities this offseason but to talk about it in public is wrong.

Not to mention that there are plans for sure, especially for BR... Drury he may still be trying to trade.

Tipping his hand isn't gonna happen.

Nor should it.

We may think Sather is an idiot but he isn't (not completely).

Doesn't players who have been given a QO count against the cap? So how much does each of them count towards the cap?

Everyone knows it's coming, there is no secret. Why can't the guy who runs the team confirm it? Why is Drury looked at as a sympathetic character in this? Where is all this it's a business talk? I just seen the Flyers GM almost in tears answering questions on why he had to move on from his captain, those questions were a lot harder than the ones Slats is gonna have to answer.

Who is going to trade for a 7 million dollar one leg player? Cap floor? I think gm's could find way better ways of reaching it than trade for Drury.

I hate Drury more than ever. Guy suffers a career ending injury and still wont retire. What a d-bag. Thanks alot ******* for absolutely nothing and for being dead weight on pur cap the past 4 yrs. Hope this doesnt ruin your summer.

Consider me the founding member of the Drury Haters club.

I'd love for Drury to answer to the media. Drag his ass through the mud.

I still don't understand why everyone think Drury should retire. One of the reasons players sign multi-year contracts is so they still get paid if they get hurt.

Because that's not how you run an organization.

You keep all business/clubhouse things behind doors. You don't go and talk openly to the media about your intentions.

You're dealing with a person's livelihood and pride, and not matter how you feel about the person it's completely unprofessional to spill that stuff to the media.

Put yourself in that players shoes and have to constantly listen to the news or answer questions from media about your pending buyout/LTIR placement.

That's not how you run a professional organization. The Rangers are completely right about handling this internally and they are acting like a classy organization.

I'm still holding out hope. You never know.

If for example we traded him to a cap floor team, and took back a player who made 4M... then waived him, the team aquiring him would save 3M in real money (they would put him on LTIR and insurance would pay him 80%) and make the cap floor easily. We would save 7M in cap $, but pay their player 4M in real $.

Trades have happened like that.
