I'm saying it now, this could very well end up being the steal of the draft!

Edit: nevermind he's from Connecticut

Again, my feelings on the pick are directly dependent on what school he's going to. Anyone?

interesting read about him

Committed to Yale for 2012, best asset (once again) his skating.
See any trends here?

I actually really like this pick. Did some research on him before the draft and hoped we would take a chance with him. Great skater.

From Kirk Luedeke:

http://bruins2011draftwatch.blogspot...lin%20Sullivan

Quote:
7. Colin Sullivan, D Avon Old Farms (Connecticut)- When we saw Sullivan help the Winged Beavers to the 2010 prep title a year ago, we saw a solid, decent player who was responsible in his own end but didn't do a great deal to stand out. What a difference a year makes! His skating noticeably improved, and it was impressive a year ago. He explodes out of a standstill or glide with a powerful stride and the ability to generate top speed very quickly. He's also tremendous on his edges, making very tight turns and able to shake would-be checkers with ease. In fact, we talked to one NHL scout who was staying at the same hotel when we were at the World Jr. Championship about Sullivan and all he wanted to talk about was the Yale recruit's wheels. On the downside, Sullivan was not all that productive this season and some scouts question his vision and hockey instincts to read the play and jump into the natural offensive flow. He's a solid defensive player otherwise, however. We talked to Sullivan's coach, John Gardner, who knows a thing or two about producing NHL players, having coached Brian Leetch and Jonathan Quick to name just two, and he said the most impressive thing about Sullivan's progress from last season to this was that he increased his skating speed and also got a lot stronger. Sullivan is a gym rat who works harder than anyone on the team at his off-ice conditioning. He's a solid 6-2, 205 right now and will still add some more mass to his frame. The big question Sullivan will have to answer is where he will play next season. He won't report to Yale until 2012, and can go back to AOF for a third season or may go out to the USHL- he's reportedly drawn a lot of interest from teams in that league.
His problem is that where he'll play next season....Let's go Q....can someone make him an offer? Going to Yale in 2012.

Ew! Yale?

I don't know why teams think it's a good idea to go Ivy League. George Parros... Lee Stempniak... Ryan O'Byrne.... Mmmmm yeah that's all I can think of. Even Louis Leblanc couldn't score in the Ivy League because all his teammates were atrocious. Playing with and against such little talent is terrible.

Haha

I love how everyone on here think they are proffesional scouts lol. 99% of us on here have never seen any of these kids play and we are judging them lol. Let management do there job and pick the best player available according to THERE list as they have seen there kids numerous times to make the best possible selection at that draft position. Just a quick note, it is factual that the HABS are one of the best drafting teams over the last 6-8 years according to producing NHL talent.

Why is it SO damn hard to get relatively accurate height/weight stats on players? Don't they have a combine just a little bit before the drafts?

I mean, you look at his profile card and he's 6' 190 lbs. Then in Whitesnake's quoted report he is a solid 6'2'' 205 lbs...? Makes a pretty big difference to me.

Anyway, happy we drafted a D, I felt that we were really lacking on D prospect coming into the 7th round...

So he's not going to Yale next year. Hopefully like Whitesnake said he can play in the Q this year. His great skating would help him there.

Jon Gleed. Not an NHLer, but you never said that.

Maybe he'll end up going a different route if he comes up north this year. That'd be nice.

His descriptions remind me of what we were hearing of Bennett when we drafted him...

A gym rat going to Yale....

Timmins you are paid to draft NHL talent, not your clone.

Seriously. Like for Beaulieu i've seen as small as 6'2 174 and as big as 6'3 191.

I think there was some poster who already said we were interested in him. So I wasn't surprised with this pick, I dunno, hope he isn't Scott Kishel v. 2

“It started getting a little bit stressful when the fourth and fifth round came around, but I’m just happy to be picked right now,” admitted Sullivan, who will follow in the footsteps of former Hab Christoper Higgins by moving from Avon Old Farms to Yale University in 2012. “I didn’t really care when I went as long as I got drafted and to be drafted by the Montreal Canadiens is such an honor.”

Well unlike Kishel, he seems to be ranked pretty high in some places. Central Scouting had him 66th mid term and 75th final.
