Not to mention they somehow managed to name one of the East divisions "Central". That won't be confusing. Sometimes I really wonder about the people making these decisions.

And Florida teams, Boston, Toronto and Montreal are in the "Central" division lol.

Hell every team in that Division is in the Eastern time zone. That's gotta be changed lol.

Conferences
Wales and Campbell

Divisions
Atlantic, East
Central, West

It would make too much sense though, eh?

Looking a bit bleak.

Players don't like playoff imbalance. Believe easiest fix is to leave either CBJ or Det in west. PA hasn't completed full player rep review.

Told it's 50-50 at the moment as to whether or not PA approves realignment proposal. NHL will push hard to get it through as is

I've been saying that a division of Dallas, Minnesota and Peg makes too much sense for over a year. Battle for I35 (not technically, but it's close enough). I stream TSN 1290 Peg some times. I think Dallas' placement is the worst in the league (timezone-wise) followed by PEG. It would be nice if you guys and us got moved to a division in our time zone.

For this alone, I'm putting my full support behind the owners during the next lockout.

I think the players are right. I like Dallas' current position in the proposed lineup, but why in the hell are they going to 4 divisions/conferences when they have 30 teams.

They could have easily kept the East mostly the same (Swapping CLB and WIN) with 3 divisions ... then slight movement to balance the West (Dallas to Central; Winnipeg to NW; Colorado to Pacific).

Until expansion happens, there should still be 6 divisions in 2 conferences. The players have a point this unbalance stuff makes no sense. The league seems to have complicated this for no reason. Should Quebec get a team (or Toronto) when the expansion we all expects come ... they'll have to juggle someone back to the West ... probably Detroit.

Yea...except Detroit, Columbus, Dallas, Winnipeg, and Minnesota are all unhappy. Detroit's screaming especially is catching attention with the league.

I'd be perfectly happy with switching spots with Winnipeg in the Southeast until expansion comes (or even put Colorado in Pacific, Dallas in Southeast, Winnipeg in Northwest) or with your above proposal but it isn't going to happen it seems like.

Don't get why they don't just leave Detroit in the "Mid-West" division if this one gets canceled and have 15/15 .

Probably because Winnipeg is in Canada, and Dallas is, well, Dallas.

The 8 best teams from each conference makes the most sense, divisions should only count for scheduling in the regular season (timezones being important). I never understood why winning a division, entitles a team to rank higher than another with more points.

Why is Detroit unhappy?

I get the other ones, but most people are speculating expansion is right around the corner. Won't Quebec and Seattle be NHL ready in less than 2 years? I think everyone could live with it 2 more years (assuming they do make the minor tweaks to balance the West).

I didn't consider DAL to SE. That'd be nice, but I think CLB makes more sense.

Because they haven't been awarded the NHL Trophy for the "Best Team in the last 15 years," that the salary cap that allows for other teams to be equally competitive, that 5-on-3 PP's are also for the opposition and not just them, that they're the only team that is unable to retain talent because of the cap, the fact that the league even allows playoff series which Red Wings can lose, etc. etc.

Seriously though, they've been wanting out of the West for a while now. It's the WC teams that have disagreed to let them go since Dingheads bring in revenue in their arena.

Expansion? I'd have thought re-location.

It's pretty evident, both are coming. I'll be shocked if Phoenix lasts past 2014-15 (if they even get there).

Yeah I think the popular thought right now is PHX to Quebec. Seattle seems like a lock, and I've seen Las Vegas pop up lately again as a potential 2nd expansion team.

If PHX does go East ... DET or CLB have to come back. That's why it's so stupid to make that move right now.

I think they'll use Quebec as an expansion city so they can get as much money as possible. PHX then to Seattle.

Who are the other potential expansion cities? They need one more. Vegas would be OK I guess, but I wonder if there are any other candidates.

Speaking of expansion ... I really hope you can protect 2 goalies in the expansion draft. Otherwise ... in 2 years they'd probably lose Lehtonen or Campbell ... hopefully Lehtonen.

Really hope they stay away from Vegas, don't think it would work that well there. Everyone on the Business board seems to think it's the 2nd Toronto team.

Wouldn't Toronto and/or Buffalo potentially block that?
