Well, looks like someone has been sharing the same opinion as me. Take a look at where's Raphaël Bussières rank.

So think about it like this

Price at age 28 will be an absolute dominant force, Subban would be 26 and be just entering his prime and if he continues his dominant trajectory he'll be unstoppable. Tinordi and Beaulieu would both be
just entering the league and would establishing themselves as second pairing guys, Pacioretty along with Eller would both be in their primes and be 60 point scorers and you add into that mix two more 60-80 point players adn you could very well create a stanley cup contender. This draft is definitely gonna be one of the more important ones for us because it determines what we give subban and price to work with during the primes of their career

Gauthier will either keep his players or trade some players depending on what happens. If Diaz and yemelin pans out and become rock solid then guys like weber might be expendable. DD, kostitsyn might be expendable to.

We can get a lot of draft picks if we really wanted to but we are always going for the cup. So don't expect to many trades going on from gauthier.

If the Habs suffer any big injuries this season it will be time for management to consider breaking up the core group. This would give Gauthier some very good bargaining chips to acquire high 1st round picks and possibly position the habs for a great team in three to four years from now.

TSN preseason 2012 draft report on the top 10. Updated Sept. 22.

http://tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=9819

The only surprise for me was seeing Matia Marcantuoni at number 10, whereas other scouting reports have him listed anywhere from 15-25.

I was kinda hoping he would stay around the bottom third so that we would have a chance to draft him. He's a skilled kid with a lot of drive. He's bigger than his listed size too.

Those days are gone and will never come back. There will never be another dynasty in the 30 team NHL, especially with a cap in place.

I don't know. Pens have a chance to have a top team for a long time. Detroit continued to do it post-lockout.

I agree, if the Pens can keep their core together and the Hawks as well thos can be 2 teams that can win back to back cups

This is the year we need to bank in on a legit front line superstar.

I can definitely see us trading away some of our defensive depth to move up in the draft. The more guys like Weber, Diaz, Tinordi, Nash etc. impress, the better shot we have at finally getting that game breaking forward.

I can't believe the Caps are going to get another (likely) top pick. If there's one thing I wish we saw more of from Montreal management, it's moves like that, but how often can you trade for a top 10 pick and not lose any important roster players or depth.

Well we did it with Halak. Picked extremely late and traded for a touted prospect. I can see us moving up with Weber and our 1st. I don't think Gauthier has the balls to do that though.

Wont be enough to move more than 3-4 spots unless Weber improves vastly.

Nice read Markov79fan,sure gives an idea what the strong traits of some of the players ranked for the #1st round.Defencemen are in abundance,I'd love to see the Habs get a couple more #1st round picks and 2nd rounders. This is a draft that could put a team like the Habs over the top.

if he keep playing like he his right now he's going to be a first round pick at the end of the year. right now he's a 2nd rounder on most list just because of last yr were he was dissapointing. he's a great talent just need to show it on a regular basis

Here's another interesting story for the upcoming draft....Where will Adam Pelech go now that he sustained an injury that might take him out for the whole year....Where did you pencil him to go before....and when is he going to go now? Still a surprising 1st rounder à la Adrian Foster though hoping it would end up differently?

This is the type of player that Pierre Gauthier and Trevor Timmins like,he definitely has his mind set on an NHL career.

no appropriate place to post this, so I'll post it here.

funny that Ty Wishart was waived today.

In 2006 we traded down from 16 to 20.

1 16 San Jose Ty Wishart (waived)
1 17 Los Angeles Trevor Lewis
1 18 Colorado Chris Stewart (OMG OMG OMG)
1 19 Anaheim Mark Mitera (Now with the Habs)
1 20 Mtl. Canadiens David Fischer (*PUKE*)
