During the final few weeks of the season, I noticed the shaft of the stick Spezza had been using had changed from black to white. Assuming they were the same kind of stick, and just different colours, does anyone know why he did this? Would a white stick be harder to read for the opposing team?
P.S. Please ignore your dirty imaginations when reading my question. Your lame jokes would be so easy, that they wouldn't even be funny.
He used a white one at the end of the year only to promote it I think, it's the new S19 or maybe S21 that will come out next year, many players around the league tried it, Heatley played with one once ... I do not belive it's because of the grip cause when you play in the NHL you decide everything about your sticks ..
also, I don't think it's harder for the other teams.. it's harder on a black stick with black tape ..
There's no reason, it's just a different colour stick...Heatley also switched to the white one for a couple of games.
Sometimes, the black stick when you grip it too tight can cause friction and leaves marks on your hands, so it's kind of dirty when you have to jerk the stick around and pot one five hole. I think Spezza prefers white sticks because it doesn't rub off as much on the hand, so he can stroke it easier to stick handle through the opposing men.

Spezza used a white wooden sher wood for a few years then switched to the S19 one piece which was only black but in the latter part of the season he had a white S19
it is also harder for you to see the stick along the boards, makes it harder for goalies to see if they are going to shoot or pass. or so I was told by a friend playing in Germany.
