Yeah, so maybe someone shouldn't have been playing a dude with a separated shoulder and another with two broken fingers on a PP that we desperately needed to score. Both so that the PP could be more effective and so that those players wouldn't take the fall for the PP's failure.

Just a thought.

Edler at his best is IMO by far the best D-man on the team. Dan Hamhuis is the most consistent and reliable. Bieksa and Ehrhoff fall somewhere in between.
Same for me on all fronts.

So basically all our defencemen are inconsistent, except for Hamhuis. That makes him our best defencemen, IMO. That's who I voted.

If we're talking overall, Edler.

If we're talking defensive stickwork, positioning, ability to recover, Hamhuis.

Interesting how the absence of Hamhuis in the Stanley Cup Finals is how we realize just how important he is.

I was very upset by how he got taken out of the lineup.

Local Hero Lucic gets hipchecked by Local Hero Dan Hamhuis.

Bruins Local Hero trumps ours.

And we lost.

The symbolism is gross. If this was a piece of fiction I was working on, I'd feel I was being too obvious with it..

And it's all Ballard's fault for bringing hip checks back in fashion.

Those have been part of Hamhuis' game for awhile. See: Dustin Byfuglian.

I am going to say Dan Hamhuis is our best d-man, Especially with his consistency through the pre-season/season/playoffs. He has barely any day offs, and literally EVERYBODY who plays with him has played considerably better.

The biggest benefactor is kevin bieska, who looked a completely different player this year imo Because he was paired with Hamhuis.

While many people will probably say Edler, but his consistency issues are well advertised in the playoffs, He might have the best potential of the crew, but imo Hamhuis is better at this point.
He missed 3 months before the playoffs this year.

In previous years he's played well in the playoffs. This year he started strong but started to look worn out. Not surprising.

Don't know where you are getting well advertised consistency issues in the playoffs.

Hamhuis had plenty of ****** outings during the regular season, it's not like he was Mr. Consistent the whole year. A few dubious games in the playoffs too.

Bieksa plain and simple. He scores clutch goals when needed. Edler lacks consistency.

There is really no wrong answer, IMO. They play different roles and are at different stages. I think Hamhuis was most vital to our success this season (we fell apart without his services and managed play through Edler's absense), so I voted for him. It will no doubt be Edler in due time, though.

It was between Edler and Hamhuis for me but Edler's offensive game is already ahead of Hamhuis' and his defensive game is not really that far behind for being 4 years younger - so he's our best IMO. Though we missed Hamhuis a lot more than I thought we would.

I keep saying it: Edler is out best D man and would be a solid #1 if only the guy could hit the damn net more!
