I thought you can't resign someone you bought out. Can someone familiar with the CBA clarify/confirm that for me? Maybe the specific place in the CBA where it says that? Thanks.
No, you're not allowed to resign a bought out player until his cap hit comes off the books. In our case, that would be after the 2012-13 season.

Thank you, that's what I thought.

Good Riddance...guy was ok his first couple of years and sucked the rest of the time...if he had any pride he would have retired...now, he will troll on some teams 4th line collecting more money.

I guess there are only so many Markus Naslund's!

So this is how it feels to be in a world post-Gomez/Redden/Drury.

Good Luck Drury. A true class act.

And what proof do you have that he's gonna "troll on team's fourth line"?

I find this ironic, considering Naslund retried because he's collecting a lucrative paycheck as the GM of the Swedish Elite League's Modo.

Drury will collect more money combined in buyout and new contract next season than what he would have gotten through LTIR program. He is no class act. Nor he should be. The guy could have made much more playing baseball, or at least he thinks so. Anyway it is not going to ruin his summer.

Again, how do you know this and when did he mention it? Or are you, like others, just grasping at straws/making **** up?

Its a great day for the franchise, Drury is finally gone! He was the last one left of those horrible free agent signings, that we needed to get rid of.

I know the Rangers aren't going to re-sign him, but is it possible that after buying Drury out they can sign him again? Just wondering.

No, not until his contract buyout penalty comes off the books, in his case that wont be until after the 2012-13 season. And I doubt that the Rangers would be interested in his "services" at that point.

Dont be surprised. He always posts ignorant things such as that.

Drury is and will always be a class act. His career went downhill especially when his body started to severely break down. I'm not going to hate on the guy for being human.

Brooks has written a few times about the 12-13 cap hit may not count against the cap in the new CBA. This is the last season of the current CBA.

I would venture a guess that pride plays a big factor in why he wants to play NHL hockey again next year.

If the lightning still have not signed stamkos, i say put an offer in for him first, i mean he's 21 with 90+ points the last 2 seasons, how can't any team want to just put an offer in on him?

he will cost more than richards, but younger.

I would be all for it as an option, but

A. Sather doesn't poach, I imagine as part of an unspoken rule between him and several other gms, and

B. Tampa would match any offer sheet. It probly would just turn Richards off as a result, knowing he was our plan B.

Meet the reporters. Let them ask the questions.

This is a man who has made the three worst signings in the salary cap era and yet gets to skate on by like its all part of his plan.
