I am not sure what people are thinking or were they are getting there info from but you won't need to buy CI to see the Jets games on TV.
All the games will be Televised this season. Blackouts only apply when the team requests it because they want fans to come to the games first(think Bomber games before this season when they would only get 18K to the stadium. TSN would always blackout the games locally)
CBC will be showing every Jet Saturday game to Manitobans and probably all of western Canada.
The bidding war between TSN and Sportsnet was pretty intense because both companies know the viewership will be incredible the 1st year
Don't worry all games will be shown either on TSN,TSN2 or CBC no blackouts
Worth noting that all of Winnipeg's Saturday games are either matinees (which open them up to TSN/Sportsnet/Whoever), or are 7:00ET starts, which would fit into HNIC's broadcast window. I think you guys will be fine

Drawback of getting CBC on weekends is no local CBC HD feed here.

OTA is moving over to digital end of August
local CBC will go to HD and most content for winnipeg (if they have it in HD, will be broadcast in HD) especially hockey
there is no way cbc will broadcast any nhl game only in SD

Probably true, it was a trick I used to take advantage of though, as a (still kind of) Leafs fan, when local CBC would show a different game, the CBC HD feed was from Toronto and always showed the Leafs, haha. Hope they change it to a Winnipeg HD. It's not the signal that's the problem, it's CBC needs to step up for the HD equipment here in Winnipeg.
Hah! I grew up in LdB and we always got CJOB and 1290 fine.
Of course, this was 16 years ago now
ha ha -- 16 years ago I was growing up in Pinawa (Go Panthers!) and we definitely always got 1290 and CJOB, and we could usually even pick up 1570 outta Winkler for Blue Jays broadcasts.

Ha Ha I'll have to invite you guys over to the cottage so we can't listen to anything after 10. Trying to hearing any am clearly after 10 is sketchy. Bomber post game shows or late starts are a *****.
I've only been going to that lot for 29 years now, I must not know what I'm talking about Matybe it's the CBC tower close by in line with the city ?

There's a difference between digital and high definition. OTA is mandated to go digital (vs the current analog delivery), it is not mandated to go HD.
As others have pointed out in this post, CBC doesn't have an ample amount of HD capable trucks to broadcast every game on a saturday night in HD. If the decision is to have an HD truck in Toronto vs Winnipeg, Toronto is getting it.

Sportsnet regional feeds are blacked out to anyone outside of that region. Like I said I have no idea how it will work between the Jets and TSN but that is where it comes from...and it's 100% true. I live in Southern Alberta and have to order CI every season so I can watch the Canucks games shown on Sportnet Pacific. TSN and CBC have national NHL rights therefor they can broadcast their games to all regions.
These blackouts have nothing to do with attendance(362 game sellout streak)...it has to do with SN only having regional broadcast rights.

I think we are talking about local broadcasts most of these people are getting the idea that in Manitoba they will not be able to watch the Jets because the game will be blacked out which is not the case at all.
Just trying to stop people in the Manitoba region from panicking

Jets fans in Manitoba will definitly get to see their boys every game night on the tele. When I first moved to ALberta from Vancouver 4 years ago I went to watch the game and almost had a heart attack when it was blacked out...found an online feed and ordered CI the next day. Now I get to see every Canucks game and I get to watch a lot of teams I never have in the past.
Do you have any idea who the TV play-by-play guy will be? Will it be Rod Black and Dave Randorf splitting the duties like the Habs games, or will TSN bring in someone new? I was thinking that since Peter Loubardias is a "free agent" now, TSN may pick him up (for your sakes, I hope not ).
Rights Deal: The regional TV/ local radio rights to the reborn Winnipeg Jets are going to TSN. With no available shelf space on the main channels, TSN will service the Jets territory with a back channelavailable to subscribers, as it did for the Montreal Canadiens regional rights.
