Montreal Canadiens #1 Prospect Voting

Who is the Montreal Canadiens best prospect. Feel free to use your own interpretation of the term "best prospect."... whether that be most upside, or most likely to have a good NHL career. Make sure to tell me who to add to the next poll. Even though they haven't graduated by HF standards, I'm leaving out White, Weber and Desharnais.

First batch of options:

Alexander Avtsin. RW Hamilton Bulldogs
Nathan Beaulieu. D Saint John Sea Dogs
Michael Bournival. C Shawinigan Cataractes
Morgan Ellis. D Cape Breton Screaming Eagles
Brendan Gallagher. RW Vancouver Giants
Danny Kristo. RW North Dakota Fighting Sioux
Louis Leblanc. C Montreal Junior
Aaron Palushaj. RW Hamilton Bulldogs
Jarred Tinordi. D London Knights
Alexei Yemelin. D Montreal Canadiens

IMO I really like Beaulieu and gallagher. I see beaulieu being a top 3 D and Gallagher being a top 6 forward. The kid may be small but he is very passionate, has a very good shot, he's fast and he's also very gritty. Love these 2 prospects IMO.

Laughed at Beaulieu when i saw 100% but 1 vote, made me chuckle hehe

Yemelin short term for me no doubt. Will mostlikely play for habs next year which is a accomplishment for a "prospect"

Well to me, he is:
"the closest to playing at NHL level with the highest ceiling/potential"
So, I'll go with Palushaj. Yemelin hasn't played on NA ice so he's as far as the major junior kids.

Best potential:
D - Beaulieu/Ellis is intriguing, F - Avtsin/Gallagher is intriguing.

Closest:
D - Yemelin, F - Palushaj

Beaulieu for me. He hasn't had a chance to lower himself in my mind yet, like most of our other prospects who have underachieved.

Tinordi was a defensive and intimidating force in the OHL... He should produce more this season as London should be a lot better

I went with Leblanc.

Add Trunev.

Hell, if it's players with skill who are close to the NHL, add Nygren.

Voted Beaulieu because I think he has the highest upside and has a good chance of atleast making the NHL. Best chance of making the NHL should be Emelin and Leblanc, but I think they have lower ceilings.

I think having a high ceiling is important to be namned a #1 prospect.

I voted Yemelin based on the "closest to the NHL" criteria.

Add Nygren because I think he's really close.

Beaulieu. I think he has the potential for 1st pairing D. Should Yemelin really be considered a prospect?

Wow... .ok same thing happening as last year. The year's previous picks, the ones people chose last year, are now left to the side for the new flavor who just got drafted.

Last year, I was telling everyone that Weber and Pac should've been at least top 5, and people were chosing Leblanc, Tinordi and Kristo over them, because the new ones hadn't been tried yet, so they were ALL potential..., while the other two had proven things at a higher level, but since they hadn't pulled a Subban when they were tried on the big club, well their potential was now seen as much lower than what it previously "was".

It's becoming ridiculous. I haven't even made a comment about me being right ever since Weber is back on everyone's good side.

Still like Kristo as the #1 prospect right now, I think his speed and his ability to stickhandle and make plays at his top speed are an excellent asset and will make him an NHL player. I expect him over PPG this year at North Dakota, than in Hamilton for 12-13.

Man, I feel your pain. The need to build Beaulieu up in order to feel better about the entire draft in general is palpable. I've seen him a tonne, and I'm not prepared to call him our best prospect overall. He's really good, but I have a really hard time seeing how his "ceiling" is much higher than what he has already shown so far. I think what you see right now is exactly what you'll see in 2, 3, or even 4 years' time: a guy with definite NHL skills and size. He's pretty much ready (strength and conditioning aside), which is why he deserves a high ranking, but I'll be surprised if his NHL impact is equal to, let alone above, a prime Brisebois, for example.

Long story short, I think Leblanc and Kristo are still more deserving of #1 prospect rights. I *might* even consider putting Tinordi above Beaulieu, just because he still has the potential to be one of the more unique and hard to replace players in the pool. I'm gonna think on it a bit more before voting.

yemelin.

He is going to do better than most think. His game will fit in perfectly with the role he will fill on this club. I see JM giving him an expanded role as the season progresses to the point he is a top 4 guy. He will get the chance due to injury etc. and wont let it go. His attributes are much needed and will be much appreciated.

Beaulieu.

Kristo was close, but his Jekkyl and Hyde season made it difficult to vote him over top.
Avstin should do better next year, but not ready to give him top prospect status.
Tinordi's OHL season was mediocre at best.
Leblanc was unimpressive to me when I viewed him after the WJC.

So, I'll go with the point getting smooth skating D man who won a Memorial Cup.
