Oh ya I'm definitely hoping for playoffs. Drafting top prospects is very excting, but it's not nearly as exciting as playoff hockey. Even if we don't have an opportunity to get these guys i'm still pumped to see these them get drafted because young stars area are always so exciting.

only way I can see us having a player like that in that draft is if we somehow make a trade like how burkie did with the sedins and how columbus just did with carter.

If we wouldn't have used the BOS 2nd for Liles, packaging both 2nd's and our first could've probably put us in range for Ebert/Frk.

I think because of the draft's strength, it will be hard to pry a 1st away in a trade, but wouldn't be surprised if Burke does, seeing the potential to add 1-2 future cornerstones to cement the future of the club moving forward

Murray, Yakupov, Grigorenko, Dumba, Frk are some of the big names. I've seen a lot of Ryan Murray, he's a great player.

Ryan Murray was Canada's best player in the U-18s IMO

if ur looking for former nhlers kids then u missed a big one Dylan Corson, son of Shane corson. Plays for Belleville bulls

A year ahead? Never too early I guess?

This time next year, I suspect a lot of names/rankings on that list will change, other than maybe a player like Yakupov.

There's no point hyping/discussing something that will likely change quite a bit by next year.

I think their could be 4 or 5 potential franchise players in the 2012 draft. I think Yakopov is probably the best player to come along since Stamkos and Galchenyuk and Frk are better then any of the top5 from this year. Their is also a handfull of ellite franchise dman going to be there. This should be the best draft since 2003.

if we failed to get a top line center this yr at free agency time

should we go after the best future franchise player available or go after the best future franchise centerman

I think no matter what happens this summer, the best we do at the draft next year will be around 10. The only way that changes is if there is a significant injury to someone like Kessel/Reimer.

That being said, Filip Forsberg looks interesting. Good size and stats for a kid. Young too. But I'm just reading stats.

BTW, one of FLA, WIN or COL will have a great shot at amazing player in Yakupov. 49 goals is incredible for his age. He will be one of the oldest in his draft, though. But I think he would've gone 1st or 2nd this year. Imagine being in EDM situation and taking Nail with Hall already there. What a horrible conundrum!

I really love Frk, if there's any way we managed to get him I would be ecstatic. Currently ranked 8th, I would hate to see us perform that badly, but if we did, for whatever reason, he would be a pretty nice consolation prize. I used to play hockey against Taylor Burke's (ranked 73rd on that list) brother back in the day. Pretty cool to see him ranked so high

edmonton needs a franchise defenceman more then anything else imo

they themselves could be dramatically better this yr if nugent can make the team and be a contributor and even if he just makes the team and isn't a great player till the yr after.. in the future they are just stacked!

Really intrigued by the Oshawa Generals' Scott Laughton. Plays with a alot of heart and has potential to be a great two-way centre.

Zemsus Girgensons will sneak up the rankings quite a bit over the next year, IMO. Very dynamic player.

Ditto Henrik Samuelsson.
