Have you guys actually watched these guys? I'm a Mooseheads ST holder and the play of both of these guys raised some red flags last year.

I expect Frk to be a 1st round selection but don't be surprised if his stock drops considerably. Serious skating and compete issues. Shot is world class though.

Ciampini makes Frk look like a speedster. Brutal skating prevented him from showcasing his offensive talent this year.

These are decent prospects but with 2012 supposedly being incredibly deep I think we should set our sights a tad higher.

With next year's draft, tanking in and of itself isn't even necessary. We're bound to get a great player (assuming we keep our first) even around 12-18. In fact, I'd say that the top 20 or so guys for 2012 would rank much, much higher than the guys taken after 10 of this year's draft.

It's the kind of mindset that pollutes this board by promoting prospects as if they have some god-given right to dominate immediately. This isn't NHL 11 where you can take control of a player and lead him to multiple hat-tricks or the Stanley Cup for 10 consecutive seasons. This is the NHL - a league of real players, real skills, real feelings, real contracts, and infinite variables that makes the game and the players that play it unpredictable, frustrating, and legends.

Jesus. We've been talking about winning for the last couple of years, have finally seen major organizational improvements across the board, and the majority of you in this thread are still acting like every player under the age of 18 is going to be a star.
I dont think anyone is suggesting we tank, desperately want to see us in the playoffs....but there is such a small gap between 4th to 12th in the conference that anything can happen. Couple of injuries and a sub par season from a player or two, can vault any team from contender to a top 10 draft pick. This is why we need to keep our picks.

I would call chara and thomas elite players.

Boston is an exception not the rule when it comes to a cup.

pittsburgh had crosby malkin and fleury as there elite players

chicago had toews kane keith seabrock as their elite players

anaheim Getzlaf, selanne pronger neidermyer and gigeure

tampa bay st louis richards lecavalier Khabibulin

detroit had daytsuk zetterberg lidstrom
b4 that yzerman hull shanahan lidstrom chelios & hasek

colorado sakic forsberg blake bourque foote roy

all these players won championships and were able to do their job using a great supporting cast. Burke is building a nice supporting cast with no superstars

Here is my top 10 for 2012 on a thread I started before the 2011 draft. I think it's fairly accurate with a lot of tweaking in between drafts.

1. Nail Yakupov
2. Mikhail Grigorenko
3. Martin Frk
4. Ryan Murray
5. Nick Ebert
6. Alex Galchenyuk
7. Pontus Aberg
8. Griffin Reinhart
9. Henrik Samuelsson
10. Jacob Trouba

This draft looks very deep, but I hope the Leafs don't play too badly at the cost of a bad season from Reimer. I like to see him succeed.
