For those keeping track Providence losing 5-1 near the end of the second period, they pulled Khudobin
A friend at the game texted me with "they are scary bad"

But I'm sure everything will be fine in a few games....

Yikes . . 6-1 after 2 periods.

Hennessey with the only Providence goal on the power play, with an assist from Tardif.

At the game tonight, they are scary bad. Jesus, they are making Dobby look bad but it's not his fault he is hung out to dry by the defense.

Any other STH for the P Bruins here? IT's going to be a painful year .

BTW Johnson #49 for the Manchester Monarchs is a punk. Comes out banging his stick all over the glass....

Why are they so awful so far? I thought they would be good this year to be honest, Whitfield healthy, signed Hennessey, Arniel, Sauve, Hamil back as a decent AHLer atleast, Khudobin in net, lots of d. Some injuries on D, but still, they should be able to score atleast. I guess maybe it's a grim group of prospects on the team?

Methinks Butch Cassidy may not be the ideal coach for a young AHL club. Should have gone for an OHL coach IMHO.

Colby Cohen is a ****ing joke.

Hamill sucked as usual.

Only Sauve and Bodnarchuk showed any spark.

First goal was all on Borat......but he also made some great saves while the D kept turning it over.

Totally misread this team. I think they made a bad choice behind the bench.

And yeah, Justin Johnson needed his ass kicked, but not going to happen with this team.

Thanks for the reports, everyone. I saw at Louis CK tonight

So...the defense is bad, the forwards can't score and Khudobin hasn't been as sharp as last year.

Saw that McKelvie was a -4. Welcome to the pros, kid.

I would suggest getting Hamill back to center and have him with Hennesey and Tardif as his wingers. Put the Sauve and Arniel with either Camper or Cunningham and go from there.

As far as the D goes, I mentioned late last year that I missed having guys like Zinger and Curry on the backend. NHL talent? No. But they knew their roles, had a lot of experience at that level, plus size and strength and kept things simple for the most part. Maybe this team needs a bit more of that.

Let's give it a few more games. McKelvie had a bad first game and will rebound. Bodnarchuk is coming off an injury and will get better as well.

Agreed.

After watching them last season, it was very apparent that management had lost the room. What's funny is that most of these guys were looking good at the quasi-NHL level just a few weeks ago (training camp). Chiarelli blundered by retaining any P-Bruins management from last season, let alone making one of them (Cassidy) head coach. Bad move. Essentially the same voice/message as last season, and it's falling on deaf ears. A new approach, and more importantly a new voice, is desperately needed down there or it's going to be one hell of a long season.

Time to gut the offices at the farm, rehire, and start anew. Could see this coming from a mile away. Too bad Chiarelli didn't.

Seems that every time the P Bruins make a mistake this year, or a turnover, it ends up in their net. I honestly feel the team is playing too small right now. By that I mean they are getting bumped off the puck all over the ice and winning few battles down low in either zone by forwards and D. They are also not hitting very much. The P Bruins should be quick and use their speed to get to pucks and play with a bit more determination to win battles. When Jordan Nolan (Manchester) can pretty much outskate the whole team from end to end and almost score on a drive to the net, you know there is a problem.
The forwards look like they have lost confidence somewhere. They all are rushing passes and throwing them to guys not open or shooting from way out. Gotta get some jump and play with a bit of cockiness.
I think they also need to move Hamill and Arniel to center, they are more effective there and would probably improve the faceoff percentage. They are probably on the wing for possible big Bruins recall but they would probably be more helpful in the middle. Hopefully the lines will find a bit of chemistry, there is potential, they seem like good lines, the D keeps it simple and plays D, and Kudhobin makes a few key saves back there. First three games were not pretty!

Game Stunk, should have left after 2 but thought things might get chippy.
Going to Springfield tonight with 39 other fans. Should be fun, lol.
I am not big into reading into things but during the anthem all the Monarchs were shoulder to shoulder and the Bruins were spaced out, I mentioned it to my wife and I didn't like that.

Actually, I didn't see MacDonald out on the PK much and it annoyed me. This guy is our best PKer the last couple seasons and instead he's sending a guy like Ridderwall out there.

Tardif scores again, on the PP, from Hennessy and Warsofsky, with three seconds left in the second period. 2-0 P-Bruins.

Still 2-0 with 9+ minutes left in the game.

Khudobin has stopped 23 of 24 thus far.

EDIT: Now 2-1 with 6 minutes left.

Hamill with an unassisted goal to make it 3-1 with 4 minutes left. Much better.

EDIT: Hamill scores again. This time an unassisted EN goal. Final 4-1.

Being at the game. Khudobin certainly earned the first start. He robbed two goals from the falcons from point blank range.

Didn't think the baby b's looked all that good. Sloppy play by the falcons on hamills breakaway and dainton just looked bad in net for them also.

Seeing I just must to the Springfield area, I purchased season tix to the falcons. Looking forward to seeing more hockey. Still going to be rooting for providence, but I'm also looking forward to seeing my new home team to do well.

Who needs couture? We got Ham

@AHLBruins
Providence Bruins
Hamill does practically the same move as Arniel, puts Bruins up 2-1. Khudobin saves Beaudoin's attempt and the Bruins win!!

Final score, B's 3, Portland 2 in a SO. 3 Stars: 3 Bodnarchuk, 2 Stone, 1 Hamill.

He needs to be called up with Caron going down for more seasoning.

Providence 3 Portland 2 (SO)

The P-Bruins won their second game in a row on Sunday, defeating Portland 3-2 in a shootout. Perhaps they are settling down.

Goals: Bodnarchuk & Randell

SO Goals: Arniel & Hamill

Assists: Cunningham, McDonald, Camper & Miller

Stars: #1-Hamill; #3-Bodnarchuk

Goaltending: Khudobin stopped 23 of 25 shots in regulation and 4 of 5 in the shootout

What happened to Ryan Button, I thought he'd be a regular in the lineup

What I want to know: How much of a negative impact does playing on a very sub-par team in the A have on the development of a prospect (i.e. Zach Hamill, Jamie Arniel)
